Hi, new here and (just) on my second Mk5 GTI - needed 5 doors due to family being on the way and couldn't contemplate a Volvo so swapped for a 5 door GTI!
Apart from a lack of 'boost' - it's booked in for Wed for a check up - sounds like a split hose somewhere, the thing that I can't figure out is that my old GTI used to lock itself after about 15 seconds. This one doesn't. I keep walking back to it to see if it has locked but the car stays open.
Does anyone know if there is a setting in the MFD setup or something?
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks.

It can be done, though I am not sure how, something to do with MFD, but anyone who has had a go could not get it done.
I do have the one so that when the key is taken out that the doors unlock.

Do you mean that if you click to open the car but don't enter the car re locks itself ? (or at least your old one did)

Hi, yes so I arrive somewhere, get out and without pressing the lock button on the key fob, the car would lock itself after about 15 seconds.
Thanks

I'll ask VW on Wednesday. On a brighter note, I got a set of 18" Monza IIs today which will be refurbished before being added and once the turbo is sorted, normal service should be resumed!
I'm just starting to get into the whole aftermarket thing. Eg, the old car (can you tell I miss it), used to make a 'psssh' sound after coming off the accelerator which I gather is something to do with a dump valve? Not sure if this is normal or not as I didn't do any mods myself. The new car doesn't do this but I suppose it may be due to the current problems. Anyway, any advice/comments/tips on turbos always welcome.
Thanks

Only the early GTI's did this, they revised the dv valve pretty early on and this is something they don't do anymore as I found out myself :sad1:

Hi Moto,
let us know what you find out on Wednesday. I've never seen that option on. GTI, I did have it on an aftermarket Clifford I had years ago but ended up switching of the option after locking my keys in the car :scared:
I had the original DV replaced a few weeks ago and you do indeed lose a bit of the pshhhh sound. Apparently Forge can help with this!

Exactly! The moment of realisation came, I turned around and watched the alarm arm itself while windows wound themselves up. Key fob sitting on the seat laughing at me! Dohh!!!

The cars only relock themselves after 15-30 seconds if you unlock it but don't open any of the doors. Nice feature!

Ah, that's pretty cool. I didn't know that. Thank you :happy2:

Arh, maybe that was it then. Goodness knows then how many times the car sat unlocked in a car park!!
