Hi all. Thought i'd give the Gti a bit of a clean this morning. It doesn't really get very dirty as its only used at weekends so no befores but here goes
First off sprayed calipers with bilberry cleaner to a ratio of 3/1

Then sprayed wheels with the karcher and cleaned with the ez and swisvax brush

Cleaned wheel arches with a solution of apc

Sprayed car all over with the karcher and washed with 2bm using Dodo born to be mild and a lambswool mit

All rubbers ans seals and badges cleaned with various brushes

Best thing i've found to clean front grill

Car was then dried and given a coat of poorboys blackhole

This was then buffed off and then on with the colinite

While colinite this was curing wheels treated to some rim wax

Glass ploished

And all exterior plastics treated to CG new look trim gel

Tyres then done with megs tyre gel and foam pad

Colinite left a further 2 hours to cure then buffed off

One of the best things i have in my cleaning kit is a pair of builders knee pads so the wheels and lower section of car can be done in comfort

Looks spot on mate but I'm not sure about resting a steel tub of polish on the paint work?

Nicely done.
I thought the Bilberry mix went on a bit strong. 10:1 works fine and for very mucky wheels, even 4:1 is enough. What made you go for 3:1?
No claying? If I'm putting on a glaze, I tend to clay the paintwork. Otherwise, if no clay, after drying, I move straight on to the wax.
The viking brush - would it reach under the arches? I need something for the arches.
How do you find AG car glass polish? I find it works okay but leaves a chalky residue in the recesses!
Love the reflection shots! I find two layers of collinite leaves a bullet-proof finish.

Thanks stealthy. I dont use use the bilberry on the wheels just the calipers hence the stronger solution, Wheels are washed every week so dont really need any cleaning chemicals.
Car was only clayed about a month ago so probably wont do it again till just before the winter months
I really like the finish AG glass polish leaves. Haven't had any trouble as yet.
Love the collinite! Reckon its the best wax i've used
The viken brush is spot on for cleaning inside the arches :happy2:

Very nice. I found a great brush for doing the grill/ fog light grills & it was only £1.25 from Morrisons. :grin:

...........did you use the orginal wheel bolts or have you just fitted the orginal wheel nut covers ?. :happy2:

Just a friendly warning - it appears that Bilberry (although great at removing brake dust) gently rots the caliper paint..........if you notice them looking a bit pink your solution is too strong.

Oh and have to agree dont put that tin on the paintwork.....or that scourer pad :smiley:

Came with new wheel nuts and just used orginal nut covers. So far so good :happy2:

Bilberry is one of the milder ones, so it shouldnt do too much damage on calipers if diluted 4:1

Why on earth would you do that, I wouldn't contimplate doing that with the stuff. In concentrate form its very syrupy, his sprayer must have got clogged up as well, least of his worries now though. I have used it at 3:1 and thats as much as I would go.

point being, make sure its diluted right! i still wouldnt say its an aggressive one. Im sure the guy did something careless for his rims to be "ruined"

Turns out he left it on the rim for an hour (due to an emergency) and the bilberry dried in and ruined the finish.

If you clean the car enough then 10:1 should be all you need.
