Title: Golf R @ring time
Post by: Hurdy on August 02, 2010, 08:58:46 am
Hans Joachim Stuck has just set a time for a full lap of the Nurburgring of 8 min 23 seconds - still slower than the R26R at 8 min 16.9 seconds :sad1:

Hedge pointed me towards a discussion on the R32 forum in similar vein yesterday.  http://www.r32oc.com/general-chat/23978-raced-renaultsport-megane-last-night.html

The Renault is a flimsy piece of sh1t that will likely fall apart around you in 3 years time.  It also weighs a lot less than the R.

IMHO that is a pretty good time for the R in comparison to the Renault.

Daft to compare it to a light weight Renault on 888s, the FRS would have been a better peer really.

The R had more chance of plaiting fog than beating the R26R round the ring. In fact i'd be suprised if it's beat the R26 TBH. Totally different cars. 8:23 is still pretty impressive though.  :happy2:

I put the R26R up there as it holds the FWD production car record :happy2:
8 min 26 seconds for the Focus RS at the 'Ring Mike

7 seconds isn't bad for a car that weighs nearly 300kg more!

Ahh, I worded that wrong - I didn't mean you were daft for comparing it, more it's a daft car for the R to aim to beat..

Tis a good time for the lard arse though, what's the S3's time?

Yes but its fooking expensive.  You could buy a 5 year old porsche for that money, i know which one i'd rather have.   (https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2Ftomashandmilly%2FDaft_stuff%2FAbandonThread.gif&hash=6e78d8845973179e652e62c9c2e42dd3eac4e900)

No worries.

The S3 doesn't appear to have a time for the 'Ring. Comparisons put it at around the same times as the Focus RS on other tracks though. My guess in this case would be between the R and the RS.

Well, I suppose the acid test is seeing what the Rocco R does it in, so we'll see exactly what 4WD buys you?

....The Rocco R needs to be driven by the same driver, Joachim Stuck, though for the comparison to be more meaningful.

I'm not sure if that makes the Rocco look good or the Golf look bad!

Still both good times though, looking at what kind of company they're in.
