Title: Hi, new to forum Red Edition 30 DSG following horrific motorway crash in GTI
Post by: crunchy on August 02, 2010, 02:33:57 pm
Hi Guys,

Just thought I'd place a post explaining my recent predicament furthering my Golf GTI experience. Having had 3 Mk2 GTI's, 1 Mkiv 1.8T and 4 months ago purchased a spotless Black Mk5 GTI with DSG, full leather and too many other bits to mention

Well i'm waiting now to pick the new Ed30 up and cannot wait to get fit enough to polish and wax it.

Old GTI's I've had =

5 Door Capri Mk2 8v GTI, Fantastic car sold to a chap who's dad later crashed it after ten pints and wrote it off.
5 Door Red Mk2 8v GTI, nothing special as it was an impulse purchase after splitting with the ex.
5 Door Black MkIV 1.8T remapped to 212bhp sold with 160k and was still going strong.
5 Door Royal Blue 8v GTI bought as a 2nd play toy. Had to sell it when I moved in with the new lass as no room.
5 Door Black MkV GTI 06 plate DSG, now gone to the scrap yard in the sky with a new sunroof.

Arriving this week,

MkVI GTI Edition 30, Red, DSG, 5 door, RNS510, Xenons, Cruise, parking sensors along with other things that I've forgot.

Can't wait!!!!

Hi Guys,

Just thought I'd place a post explaining my recent predicament furthering my Golf GTI experience. Having had 3 Mk2 GTI's, 1 Mkiv 1.8T and 4 months ago purchased a spotless Black Mk5 GTI with DSG, full leather and too many other bits to mention I was unfortunately rear ended on the motorway by a rubber necker and pushed into the path of a 7.5 ton lorry where I was T-boned into the barrier. Having suffered bad injuries to my back and neck I was cut out of the car and spent some time in A&E recovering strapped to a bed.

Since this incident not even a month ago I have been on a search for a replacement GTI when I stumbled across an almost exact example of the one I'd lost even to the number plate whereby only the last three digits were different. The problem with this Golf is the fact it was nowhere near as good a condition as my GTI leading up to the RTC. I thought I'd have to bite the bullet and have it as I thought my expectations of finding one quickly with the same bits and pieces on it would prove to be a nightmare.

I was wrong, having placed a deposit on the similar golf was making inquiries into that golf when I got wind of a nearby Edition 30 that as spotless. I went to see it not thinking I could stretch to such a car with a likely poor offer from the chaps insurance that hit me only to see a beautifully looked after Ed30 with Xenons,RNS510 etc the difference between the two was like chalk & cheese. I had to have it. A quick sort out of finances meant it would be possible only if the insurance paid out for my car ASAP. I was onto the phone like a shot and discovered to my amazement that the offending vehicle's insurance company were offering a higher price than I paid for my one. I was gob smacked and reliably informed by VW insurance that the retail price for my golf had actually been increasing 4 to 5 hundred pounds a month for the last 3 months.

I quickly accepted the offer and was this week sent a cheque for my old golf. Quickly I hurried to the garage and placed a deposit of the Ed30 with the realisation that I would lose my deposit of the other golf I'd seen. I gave them a bell to explain some problems I'd encountered and was offered my deposit back. Yet again I was shocked as thought I'd lost it.

Well i'm waiting now to pick the new Ed30 up and cannot wait to get fit enough to polish and wax it.
