Seen a set of Speedlines 9J x 18 ET52 with 245/40/18 Tyres.
Will I have any issues fitting these as OEM Tyres are 225/40/18.

Your tyres would have a lot of stretch on the walls, And i think, but not sure, that you would need spacers on the front to clear the inside, and maybe even on the back, but i honestly am not sure. :happy2:

The question is will the 9J width or the 245 section tyre be a problem.
Running Monza II's at the moment with 225/40/18.
Is there a maximum width that will sit under the arches of the Mk5? Using the standard offset of 52.

I think 9" wide alloys are also an issue - especially on the fronts. A spacer will be required to clear the inner arch/suspension strut. The inner wall of the alloy will be 20mm further in than stock without a spacer. With a 10mm spacer you'll clear the inner edge, but the outer edge will then be 30mm ish further out than stock, so you will rub even if you are on stock ride height...unless you have an extreme stretch on the tyres, say a 215 section width, but then that would be an extreme stretch on 9" alloys.
Most people go with a maximum of 8.5" wheels. You can go for a 19 x 8.5 with an ET45 offset and still lower the car.
Camber adjusters and arch rolling can get you well over 9" if you are committed to the cause. :happy2:

Good to know the knowledge is only a key stroke away.
Saves me money and the hassel of bitching and swearing at myself when trying to fit them.
The arches is just too extreme for me to handle.
