I see most people on here go Revo,Bluefin or APR but was wondering if anyone has tried or has experience of the Custom Code map as my local VAG specialist is a CC agent and have offered me a good price??

You started well, but suddenly went down hill very quickly chap :signLOL:

I take it its not that rated then?? Can someone give us a quick low down on this obviously touchy subject!! There was another company called MV Motorsport who had a stand at Inters, they seemed well priced .....any good??
-
I've had both at stage 2+. Custom code is a good, smooth map, but just doesn't perform or have the adjustability of the REVO software.

custom code is a no go IMO. ive read to many articals and threads about them blowing engines(ususally custom big turbo jobs), but none the less, for that reason alone i would never touch them.
revo is well proven to be one of the highest performers and has excellent adjustability that no other tuner has replicated,
APR ive seen a couple APR graphs recently and the curves and boost characteristics left a little bit to be desired. they also seem a little conservative as well, which actually could be seen as a positive i guess.
me personaly id reccomend shark performance , with their offer on at the moment its an absolute baragain. theres a group buy running in the group buy section at the momnent saving £150 on the handset with a further 10% forum discount off the remap as well.
from the cars ive driven and graphs ive een they definately perform better than bluefin and match the revo guys give or tae a few Hp here and there.
dont discount the likes of jabbasport, they are highly regarded for their custom remaps, and are one of the only companies who offer a true custom remap for your car

I'm running custard code, and I rate it. It made 337bhp last year with full milltek, fuel pump and standard airfilter.
The car feels much more lively with a uprated intake.
Where's local for you?

There's a certain Red S3 out there that has Custard Code that makes Revo cars look slow.. :signLOL:

If you are into having a boxing match whilst the car is being remapped it is the only way to go :scared:

I would agree but like to point out that theres a reason for this, the boost is deliberately reduced after spool in the 3-4krpm range to avoid compressor surge, which APR believe is an issue. (REVO dont for the record)
Im not taking sides just pointing out why.
I also have seen APR cars look way better on DD rollers graphs than on others. So the type of dyno.the run parameters and the way its displayed on the graph can change the way it looks.
conservative i would agree with , which they have tried to address with the recent file revisions, but for stg2+ cars I dont think they get close to REVO imho

Total Vag in Leighton Buzzard is my local! Only 10 mins down the road. I'd only be looking for a phase 1 map and maybe a cat back and uprated intake so nothing too major, would they be ok for this? I was always under the illusion that an ED 30 would make nigh on 300 bhp from just a map??

LMFAO!!!
If your after a cheap 'high grade' map then shark performance would be my first port of call!

the sig gets funnier the more you watch it!

I suppose what i'm after is just a good generic map which i would team with a cat back and intake. So who would you guys recommend?

Superchips Bluefin Stage one out of the box is hard to beat IMO! :happy2:
Stage 2 is good too but any further than that and I'd go REVO.

Not really had chance to 'test' it out much to be honest mate, but although it does seem to pull harder I'm not blown away at the minute. May have a play with the settings at some point!

I must say, after a couple of days with the superchips stage1, seems a nice investment if you pick a cheap bluefin handset up.
Driving about at low revs under 2k doesnt seem that much of a difference , but over that it seems to pull a lot better. I had a mk4 r32 tailgating me today, and practically left him standing when I put my foot down, took him a while to catch up, youve got to keep an eye on the speedo, cos it goes into big numbers very quick :driver:
-
Initially with the stage 1 bluefin (Thanks Greeners :happy2:) I wasn't all that blown away. A noticeable improvement higher up the revs and the pull in 5th / 6th was obvious but a couple of weeks on and a good few miles and its really settled in and the pull even from letting the clutch out at idle is amazing. It seems to take a while to adapt properly. Very smooth, no drama just more power everywhere. I'm finding myself straying into licence loosing territory all too easily so much so I've set the speed warning to beep at me.
A nice bonus is my mpg on my commute has improved by a few mpg. A spirited drive is a different story but still not that bad. :happy2:
-
i was happy with stage 1 and stage 2 superchips map....The revo map is stunning, the car is a dream to drive in any style or conditions .But really you need to pick up the phone and have a ring round have a chat .Shark aint very good at calling people back :sad1:

Just googled 'Custom code problems', and can't find any links to problems.
Has anyone got any links please? May help the OP make a decision.....

try jbs .....

try jbs .....
Google JBS? Not Custom code?
-
yes mate i think they drag custom code down a bit
-
Having read a post on BriSkoda, it would seem that JBS is the issue, there seems to be a lot of praise for CC.
I have no experience of any mapping, apart from a very short experience of SC, which I felt detracted from the car drive-ability, others like SC.
Just nice to read up on various tuners, and CC seem to get a deal of bad press, but so do all tuners. I guess CC company name is a bit mis-leading, as their Stage one is Generic.
Do the research and reading and make your choice.
