Hi lads as title says, car was serviced bout 2 months ago, now I got oil in GSF and it was super synthetic long life oil , I have the car nearly 8 months and this is the first time the oil light has come on, it's a 2005 axx Gti, I did read that this is common but is there a better oil to use that the engine won't burn??
-
Not really. VW acceptable limits are 1l per 600 miles. Just continue to use 5W30 oil approved to 504 standards.

.........mine did the same last week. 05 AXX engine. I pulled straight over & checked the level, just above the min mark. Started engine & no light ? i was only a mile from were i was going so got correct oil & topped up.
Been ok ever since. :happy2:

I have found that my vRS (BWA Engine) seems to use less oil if I fill it to about 3/4 full on the dipstick rather than full.
But in 60k miles I have probably gone through 30ltr of oil. I just use the VAG own quantum stuff. £35 for 5 litre tub from the dealer :happy2:
-
Some cars just seem to be a bit more oily that others and as stated, VW's tolerance is a litre per 1000km, ~621 miles.
My car is well looked after, but I tend to only get 1500-2000 miles between top-ups of oil. That equates to about a litre every 3 months for me, which I think is acceptable. :happy2:
-
My Ed used about half a litre between each 10k service and the .:R uses nowt.
Having said that though I still check the oil rather than be surprised that the oil light has come on. :surprised:
-
cars with a turbo do use oil pure and simple

^^^ Good practice to get into. :happy2:

..........must admit i'm very good at this, the day mine came on i had just got off the motorway & a bit of spirited driving :driver: :innocent:.Never had it before on any of the cars i've had & when i checked it was just over the min mark ?. I toped it up to 3/4 on the stick & no problems since. :happy2:

Depending on the Milage of the car but if it was serviced 2 months ago it shouldnt really be needing oil unless youve done a power of miles since.
Its quite common once the miles get up on the TFSI's that the oil pick up become blocked, happened to mine during my first term of ownership. Could be worth getting the sump off and checking the pick up gauze isnt clogged up.
-
Yeah I got it oil changed at 121,000 kilometers and I've done 4k since... Is removing the sump a big job??

Your likely to notice it when cornering hard and the oil light will cum on, i had it the computer tell me to stop due to low oil pressure as well.
Engine Tray off, Take out the sump plug, drain out the oil, disconnect the sensors then its just a case of the sump pan bolts. At that mileage id expect it could do with it, you could try and engine flush and wait till the next service but the engine flush didnt help in my case :happy2:
-
Yea mine drinks just under 1 liter every 1k miles, I always carry a 1l of oil on the car just incase !
Tbh the car gets almost 10 liters of fresh oil every 10k do what's the point in servicing it
