Title: CW GTi
Post by: edd666999 on August 05, 2010, 05:05:16 pm
When it was born (as far as im concerned) :
(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg267.imageshack.us%2Fimg267%2F4550%2F93211519276548075043598.jpg&hash=fd2847b6eaf9ccd1bedd1d85c2c402416e9c97b8)

After this JPC fitted me cruise! (no pic)

Then it went into evo mag:
(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg714.imageshack.us%2Fimg714%2F4504%2Fimg00037201005181117.jpg&hash=10eb8f87522eb3ec8a43b1c18288f8462edffb72)
(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg525.imageshack.us%2Fimg525%2F1034%2Fcarc.jpg&hash=15075a5a5bad2237f14ea4510c128a20387ea7b3)

I had a HPFP fitted at psi in stoke..

Then i went back and had WALK and AP Coilovers fitted:

(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg294.imageshack.us%2Fimg294%2F5995%2Fimg00081201007121450.jpg&hash=326138a84c1d6ba410c8ea76435abf70514956dd)
(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg265.imageshack.us%2Fimg265%2F9499%2Fimg00080201007121219.jpg&hash=13901192bdca016cf1d183e086cf13e4c513df2f)

Then i got some BBS Pascaras:

(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg825.imageshack.us%2Fimg825%2F7408%2Fimg00092201007231753.jpg&hash=e2a76a9a12fcb5c7fb3f262e87b7d25076d1f753)
(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg693.imageshack.us%2Fimg693%2F4249%2Fimg00093201007241203.jpg&hash=591070bd4d700b31d690d5d4ad0d7cbdb247c5bb)

I was a little annoyed at myself for getting these...didnt really think it through. Front tyres needed changing due to low tread but also the 235 width was scrubbing all the time, so got some new tyres for the front, and had the nail in the tyre repaired at the back. The wheels still need refurbishing which i will be getting done asap and one had a flat spot in it which the guys at WRC said the can also remove for me.

Even back to 225 tyres it was still scrubbing, so i decided to get my hands dirty!

Wheels off (you can see the new tyres in that pic):

(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg708.imageshack.us%2Fimg708%2F2300%2Fp1080606c.jpg&hash=21f353c23c8d3e978bd12d0adb018e266719bf89)

Then took this screw out and forced the wheel lining behind:

(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg85.imageshack.us%2Fimg85%2F6808%2Fp1080609j.jpg&hash=4e0ca10d9475cec6f1d0b6e7d0280c77d396ded9)
(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg59.imageshack.us%2Fimg59%2F163%2Fp1080612.jpg&hash=fa6332f13c8c3c9bfd4ab8a7195ee278f83def2b)

Then i took a rubber hammed and tapped the metal bit that held the screw up into the arch which left me with alot more room, then i increased the hight od the AP's by another thread and the results:

(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg341.imageshack.us%2Fimg341%2F2876%2Fp1080601.jpg&hash=de7dff6ddb665af7d3d9fa440e0d252766719b73)

I then sent off the bluefin to get it reset so it will be ready with stage 2+...but as i had to have stage 1 first i thought it rude not to try it on the car! it was amazing! complete transformation.

Now i have some R32 brakes, a miltek TBE and an ITG it fit on the 20th august! and then the stage 2+ map and im done!

Im rather surprised i still have a fiancée after the amount of time i have spent looking at cars, buying things for it and talking about it!

Addition 13/08/2010:

I fitted my ITG: (pics are missing a nut and a tie)
(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg204.imageshack.us%2Fimg204%2F7539%2Fp1080617.jpg&hash=220dbd55270e41f151ce17a30f5434d383987248)

(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg15.imageshack.us%2Fimg15%2F8782%2Fp1080618y.jpg&hash=e68958db1dcbe98cffc91802d5577242e3bc06eb)

Then fitted my Miltek...well i didnt but the nice garage people did.

(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg39.imageshack.us%2Fimg39%2F7394%2Fp1080619h.jpg&hash=51dc6da5b6cc0bdc7201be23b0930661dcb7b6c5)

Then stuck stage 2+ Map on!  :jumpmove: :jumpmove: :jumpmove: :jumpmove: :driver: :driver:

UPDATE 22/08/10

I saw your car in Evo Ed and wondered if it was someone on here...  :drinking:  :happy2:
I showed the buying guide to a good few of my mates, trying to get them into the Dub and Mk5 scene  :jumpmove:

I love the stance and wheels, top marks. I was going to fit Pescaras/VZ's but I didn't want mine looking like an ED30 wannabe, as I've got an ED30 splitter + rear lights  :ashamed: & I'm a big fan of my current wheels.

Yours pulls it off well though.

There should be a metal heat shield that sits under the section near the MAF, and another foam section that sits across the battery cover!  :happy2:

Post by: edd666999 on August 14, 2010, 09:10:24 pm
there is a piece of black metal that's connected to the MAF housing and is connected onto the engine using the same poppers the engine cover connects to. And im waiting for a replacement battery foam bit.

That'll be why we can't see it then if it's Black!

Mine's the same silver finish as the heat shield next to the filter!  :happy2:

After a good run today i can see what everyone was complaining about with the bluefin map. 2nd gear is awesome, anywhere past 4500rpm in 3rd or 4th and you can physically feel the car slow massively on acceleration. Going to have to try a different map i think

well spend the morning attempting to change drop links myself!

had the car up on axle stands, managed the drivers side in about 10mins...the passenger side basically told me to go F*** myself so at 12 i had to give up as i have work tonight and needed sleep!

off to a garage tomorrow to borrow the ramps so i can have another try along with my n75 valve and cam follower!

well after a lot of hassle trying to get Superchips to give me a 2+ map that worked, and them telling me its my car. I went to Awesome gti and had revo stage 2+ loaded, perfect.

Rang Superchips who reset my handset and refunded me any money i spent with them.

Had a DSG service done which went well and made a massive difference, car is a lot smoother now.

Dont have any further "plans" for the car. Just want to get myself round Nurburgring at some point.

Not updated this for some time!

i kept the NON RES exhaust because the noise was

I bought some 17" gti wheels and have wrapped them in some r888's for the ring next year.

Yesterday i went to have my exhaust mount wealded again due to so much engine movement...So i bought:

(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fths.snapalbum.co.uk%2Fimages%2Ffr3%2Ffr32t.jpg&hash=e32831f032ae39e0cc1730ffeb04289efe547a35)

Had them fitted this morning.

Noise has increased in low rev range, a little too much for my liking but im going to see if they get better after bedding in!

Next up is replace all bushes, some TT wishbones and a intercooler!

Another fairly big update.

Was losing boost quite substantially in the higher rev range, and peak power was 230bhp   Big thanks to PDT for spending time on my car narrowing down where the issue could be and er...turning my exhaust round the correct way.

I had a smoke test done, which showed boost pipes were fine.

Took the car to PSI tuning in stoke to have the DP taken off and the turbo inspected for a crack. They have taken the intake off and blanked off the DV in search of a loud screech that comes from the car when on boost. Its pointing to the turbo, it could be something as cheap as a gasket or as expensive as the turbo internals, but didnt want to say 100% unless the turbo is off the car.

I have decided to go K04 rather than spending cash taking a turbo off and replacing it with the same thing. PSI has made me an offer i cant refuse regarding going to APR software + Fitting turbo. Two benefits i can see are that it doesn't disappear when disconnecting the battery and i can once again return to Awesome GTI for any map changes.

I never really planned to go K04 when i got the car and has been a hard decision to make as to if its going to be worth it, but with 310-330bhp its means i have a much bigger willy to wave now.

PSI tuning offer APR and CC remaps, APR don't do a DSG map and from what i have read i wouldn't touch a CC map. So i will be hopefully taking the car to Nick @ R tech for his DSG map.
