Thanks

Are you planning on doing it yourself?
Have a Search for a thread by illyun - He bravely did one at home.
Otherwise, depending where you're located, JKM at Portsmouth are very experienced - That's who I'd use.

Long after I did mine . . . . :P
But yes, with the S3 intercooler, you must use S3 hoses. The connections on the actual intercooler are different between the two. Standard cooler on the GTI/Ed30/LCR/vRS uses plastic headers with 'spigot' type hose connections - wheras the S3 cooler has alloy headers and the hoses just jubilee clip on.

Sorry, Sean - I don't recall seeing a thread about your S3 i/c installation.
Btw, I believe that new S3 intercoolers now have plastic headers instead of alloy.

I didn't do a specific thread titled "here is my intercooler install", but I did add quite a bit of info in various threads on the GolfGTI.co.uk forum. :P

RU sure . . . . :surprised:

....Fairly sure. I've been told by more than one supplier (JKM was one) but I haven't seen with my own eyes. A call to a (trusted!) VAG dealership might confirm.

Does this mean they look pretty much the same as the GTI IC Robin. just a little thicker of course?

....I haven't seen one but I expect that if indeed now plastic, the side tanks will look similar. Different size though?

I fitted my S3 cooler. Took me about 7 hours iirc.
Requires bumper to come off on a vRS not sure about a Golf, and as already said you need the S3 hoses :happy2:

How much do the likes of JKM or Statlers etc charge to fit one out of interest?

....I've forgotten exactly how much but remember that people have posted that the overall cost for labour and supply of a S3 i/c is virtually the same as for supply and fitting a Forge Twintercooler which has much less labour cost.
-
I think it's about 4 hours to fit plus £300ish for the cooler and pipes.

fit yourself its easy ish took me 4 hours ish both times

Fitting a Forge only is quite a bit less work than fitting an S3 cooler.

....Hence why the cheaper purchase price of the S3 i/c balances the more expensive-to-buy Forge: Swings versus roundabouts, or 2+4=6 and 1+5=6.

Robin you fogot:
4+2
3+3
2+5-1
3+7-4
