Title: Passenger mirror dip problems!!!
Post by: golfman on August 09, 2010, 09:44:54 pm
Arg can anyone help please ive now managed to get the mirror down functioning on my mk5 2006 golf but the thing is bloody barmy :stupid:
is there a particular way you have to set it up to start with?it sometimes goes all the way to the top :stupid: it just keeps going everywhere like all the way to the bottom and then turns out with the ignition on,then when you turn the ignition off it turns in the way :stupid:
i have the mirror down function in the convenience menu and i have added both memory seats to the coding on both mirrors but i just cant get the bloody thing working right!!!
if i was to take the coding out of the mirrors and start again what would be the right setup procedure?
please help anyone

Hi,

The way I set mine up was put it in reverse and adjust the left mirror to see the kerb.
When I put it back to drive it corrects to see behind.
If the mirror control in the driver door is set to L it always adjusts down to kerb, if the control is set to 0 it continues to see the rear view (caught me out a few times when it was left on L and I was reversing with a post to my left and all I could see was the ground!  :scared:)

I hope that helps?

Hi marty i tried your method but to no avail :sad1:
im hoping my mate from vw will have the answer as he says something about you have to set it up properly first and something about the window dropping slightly to confirm the set up

Hi Scott,

please let us know if you find the answer. I did it with a VW tech giving me instructions so I hope I didn't miss a part

I definitely don't remember a window dropping to confirm so maybe mine isn't set up right either!

Cheers

I thought this option had to be activated with VAG-COM.
isn't there an option for it in the convinience menu on the MFD?
Can it be turned on via VAG-COM for any car with eetric folding mirrors, including my ickle mk2 leon cupra?

You need to have electric memory seats.

You shouldn't need to add coding to each mirror

If you go into the Central Electrics Control Module in VCDS you will see an option that says something like "mirror dip with reverse" just tick that.

Then to set the mirror, turn on the ignition, put the mirror control lever to L, put the car in reverse, set the mirror to the position you want then turn the control back to 0.

Drive forwards about 50m, turn mirror control to L, then put the car in reverse, the mirror will then dip to your pre-set position. When you then take the car out of reverse and switch off the ignition the mirror should return to the normal position.

Hopefully that will help. If not then you must have done something wrong with the coding.

You do have electric memory seats don't you?

Hi Carl,
I am able to use the mirror dip but I don't have the electric memory seats that I'm aware of. How do I tell if I have them?

You will have electric adjusters and a series of buttons on the drivers seat that say "set" "1" "2" "3"

Its like the When you then take the car out of reverse and switch off the ignition the mirror should return to the normal position but its like its arse for elbow so maybe 2 wires are in the wrong way round?
