Hi all,
Just wondering for those who have aftermarket wheels does the sensors keep going off or have you put the sensors on your aftermarket wheels?
is there away of having aftermarket wheels and to turn the tyre pressure monitor OFF via VAG COM?
I dont have a GTI untill next week but just wanted to know answers before any plans are made.
Any help would be great
Cheers
Sunny

sensors work off the abs so you will be fine :happy2:

There are no sensors situated within the wheels, it works via the ABS and senses rotational mass. If this changes then the light comes on as a warning.
When you take a wheel off ar change tyres/wheels just press and hold the button on the dash to reset so the sensors know there is a change.

Thanks guys for the rapid help! :happy2:
i had the light come on my BMW when i put bbs LMs on and it annoyed the $hit outta me lol, took it to BMW and they wanted £220 to put sensors on my LMs, as any normal person would i said "errr no" lol

Mine has only ever come on once, and I did not even have a flat or new set of tyres.
I have seen that you can buy an aftermarket sensor for the car, and the sensor goes inside the tyre I believe, but these are more for the serious modder, can't remember who it is on the board who has it fitted (probably Hurdy!)

Just to bump this.
If i reset (hold the button) with my new wheels on will it work as intended?

Eddie-NL done the most advanced version along with Golfman.
