In a moment of haste I got myself a set of these. Been having problems with excessive fuel consumption etc so thought the obvious place to start was with the easy stuff. Plugs, MAF sensor, filter etc.
Now wondering if they will cause more problems as they are one stop cooler than stock...
I am really close to getting a Stg 1 map. Probably APR, but I still wont get anywhere near to running the car hard.
Any thoughts guys?

IMO you should not need them. Even on a stage one alot of people i know still run the normal heat grade.
-
But they won't do any harm either I don't think.
I normally use them in my cars without issue.
How man miles on your car?? The interval for changing plugs is quite long so it'll be worth having a look at them if you have a few miles under your belt.

The terms hot or cold refer to the temperature of the tip of the spark plug itself. The plug must keep a temperature of, between 752 and 1652 degrees Fahrenheit. If it gets too hot it can fire off the air/fuel mixture at the wrong time. This can cause detonation and/or pinging which will put a hole in your piston... not good. If it gets too cold it will not burn off the carbon and fuel deposits on it's tip and the plug will foul out (stop working) not good either.
The plugs you mention should not give you real problems but why run plugs colder when not needed? Just my opinion :happy2:

My car is just coming up to 60k AXX engine.
Full VW history and if you believe the invoices plugs were last changed 20k ago. Had a full service just over a month ago.
I was thinking of putting the plugs on the for sale section as a swap for the normal temp ones...
But if they are unlikely to do any harm or run too cold then....
NGK don't see them as a problem, the only suggestion was to narrow the gap if I go to stage 1

Like I mentioned, a moment of haste. Read a few posts on here about them being the best plugs and a few about them being too cold and a few saying stick with oem...
Fuel consumption has sorted itself out I think. Regularly getting 31-33mpg on the same commute. Still think the plugs could do with being changed or at least checked.

Do not try to regap those ngks without the proper equipment as you'll end up damaging the tips.

Interesting post, I have a set sat on the side in my kitchen was about to fit them, plugs last changed at 50k miles now 93k miles, car stage 2+ running 275hp and 315lbft so i guess the general feel would be my car needs them? Cheers John

.
I'm running Revo Stage2 and have been advised to continue with OEM plugs but to change them every 20k miles.
-
I am running these at the moment. I can't say I noticed any difference but as VRStu says, at least they do no harm.
My car definitely started better after fitting these and seemed to tick over from cold a little better but that may simply be down to them being new plugs.

I'm running Bosch OEM plugs on the extreme end of stage 2+ and also using them with nitrous, which tend to use cooler plugs. I had them out the other day and they are fine. I had Denso iridium's which were 2 steps cooler, but these only lasted 4.5k before causing running problems. I'd stick with OEM as they just work :happy2:
