got to pick up the new GTi this week (WOOHOO!!) :ashamed: obviously need to get the service book, wheel nut key and spare key is there anything else that should come with it?
last car had 2 keys and a third for coding keys to, should VWs have the same?
is there a radio code that is required?
anything that i've forgotten?
thanks in advance!

Radio code should be in with the manual, which shoudl also be in a nice leather bound GTI booklet and you should defo be getting 2 keys. :happy2:

Check to see the manual is in its leather folder. Normally kept on a shelf in the glovebox.
Check to see you have everything in the boot - spare tyre/jack/towing eye/screwdriver/locking nut adaptor/brace/wheel nut cover remover.
Otherwise double check to make sure everything works.
Are you buying from a dealer or private?

independant dealer (non VAG)
seen service book and stamped from authorised agent, will check other bits when we go to pick it up.

Hi, is this a new car or other - Mk5 etc? If you're bothered, you may want to check that it's UK registered rather than an import by checking the plate with VW UK - they do an instant check.
Mine was from a non VW garage and as I discovered post purchase, a UK spec but an import. It was however outside the warranty window and priced accordingly so I wasn't too bothered (although a little surprised when VW said import!).

Would hope that it's a UK car, first registered keeper is VW UK, and yes mk5. Might check with vw to see if there's any recalls outstanding or service actions required....

Hi. Good idea. As I say it depends on your view/price of car etc etc. My V5 says First Registered as New (or something like that) at the bottom too and has all the stamps in the book but it doesn't mean it's not an import (according to VW UK).
I'm not sure how this happens/the process in terms of imports being first registered in the UK but thought I'd mention it. I think, and others please feel free to correct me, it just effects the warranty (if it still exists) and then potentially re-sale value.
I think too that all second hand cars have to have a min 6 months warranty when sold through a dealer now so this should cover anything that is amiss (turbos too!)
