Tw*ts aren't they. Make sure your keys are upstairs with you when you go to bed. You'd be surprised how ingenious the thieving scrotes can be! :fighting:

Make sure your keys are upstairs with you when you go to bed.

Not the best idea! If they break in and get the keys downstairs at least its only a car and can be replaced, if they have broken in and the keys are upstairs you put yourself and your family at risk!

They are unlikely to come upstairs mate. If they wanted a confrontation they'd just walk in through the day/eve, give you a slap and take the keys. The idea is to make the neighbours house more attractive to burgle. They majority of the time they only come in if they can see the keys in the back of the door, on the side table by the dor etc etc.

This is of course just my opinion and regardless they are scrotes . My keys are by my bed, along side my old mate Percy Persuader, aka a rather nice rounders bat!

Exactly just keep them out of sight, always kept my keys to the Eddy upstairs and the one time they were on show, someone broke in. Its as if they were checking and waiting each night. Fortunately they picked up the VW key to the Passat and they didnt know how to start it.

I got told by the Police they usually have a lot of break ins on Sunday evenings as most people work mondays so an early night for most and people are unlikely to be coming home at all hours from nights out etc.

I used to live in Wibsey.

My mate had his car nicked from Pudsey and they found it 5 days later in Bradford. They broke in the house for the keys while they were asleep.  :surprised:

Its a judgement call ain't. I'd still keep em upstairs and if they do come up and get funny you can always just give them the keys.  :happy2:

Yup we have had a car nicked years ago and they also tried getting my ED30. Also had 2 motorbikes and 2 pedal bikes nicked and someone tried getting my Yamaha Banshee.  :fighting:

If someone goes through the hassle of breaking into your house I hardly think the keys being upstairs is gonna stop em

Clearly we all have different opinions. Personally I keep all car keys out of sight and do what we can to put people off wanting to attempt our house. CCTV, Security lights, snap locks and stoppers on all the doors, alarm, security post and chained gates. The extent we go to, to protect our hard earned goods is just stupid.

I live in Leeds too and have been victim to theiving b@stards. We continuously have our mk4 golf broken in to on the driveway to have the stereo stolen. It now doesn't have a head unit at all and I won't put one in until I sell it. The thieves aren't bothered about my new BMW or about my GTI because they have built in stereos whereas the mk4 is a standard single din unit that can be stolen and sold on easily.

After the last time, I bought a couple of new security flood lights for the house and the 1 night I forgot to turn them on... the theives did it again! I have now put up CCTV cameras and I'm hoping that might be enough to keep them away... probably won't though  :sad1:

B@astards! Luckily for me my car is shut away on the drive and if anyone opens the gates my dog usually goes mad anyway but we keep our keys locked in a safe at night :)

Sounds like a good time to invest in a REVO SPS switch for the anti-theft mode, even with the keys they wont go anywhere !!

If someone goes through the hassle of breaking into your house I hardly think the keys being upstairs is gonna stop em

Why? They don't usually want a confrontation, they don't want the police to be notified until they are well gone and they rarely want to get in a chase or get caught so why risk it. It happens yes, but very rarely if you ask me. They would rather move onto the next house I reckon.

If they manage to get into the house, they will most probably get the keys no matter where they are! A lot of these gangs break in expecting confrontation as cars are stolen to order!

Not any of the ones I have spoken to and I've spoken to quite a few. Hollywood does like to jazz things up doesn't it eh  :signLOL:

I can see this debate going on like this for ages so I'll gracefully drop out before I annoy somebody

Most are scummy wannabe gangster kids doing it for a few hundred quid - they're banking on you doing nothing, but then there's the odd case of people getting a good hiding.

I honestly dont know how i'd react in that sort of situation tbh, fingers crossed its one myself or the wife never find ourselves in...
Sensible side of me thinks that if they went to the trouble of breaking into our home and coming upstairs for the keys then i wouldnt want to put mrs beddie in any danger for what is an easily replaceable lump of metal, the other side of me couldnt bear to let my hard earned drive off without any protest...

My cousin was unfortunately faced with this a few months back, 2 lads came into his house early evening and demanded the keys to his S3, he put up a fight but got an iron bar across the head for his trouble and a trip to hospital, scumbags didnt expect any resistance and legged it without the car, quite possibly the same scrotes came back 3 up a couple of weeks ago and took it this time...  :sad1:

His dad this time managed to chase them to the car and smashed the windscreen and back windows as they drove off to help make the car more noticeable, it was found in one of manchester's less desireable areas a few days later just parked up

Bearing in mind his dad is HUGE and had a bat and was running after them in his boxers, not sure i'd fancy a 3rd time lucky attempt  :signLOL:

If they want it they can have it, I won't be putting a fight, that's why I pay insurance. My keys always stay downstairs!

A rep who I deal with at work had a lovely MKV GTI. Sitting in his living room one evening with his two baby girls a plantpot came through his patio window, followed by three masked men all wielding huge machetes, they demanded the keys at which he obliged in much panic. His wife came running downstairs wondering what all the noise was about, through some act of bravery or plain stupidity she tried to stop them. They were not happy about this obviously and decided they would give her a clobber round the head with the end of a machete knocking her clean out. They eventually got away leaving the whole family in distress for months.

The GTI which they stole was invloved in a Police chase a few nights later, the police managed to box them in on a dead end only for them to get out of the car and start giving the coppers a good hiding!

I don't know about others but I don't wanna confront people like this, they can have whatever they want. I would'nt wanna put myself and my family through that!

The opportunistic thief won't want confrontation. A planned theft means they'll be prepared for violence.
