Ive not been on my MBP for a while so not sure how new they are.

Just wish they would hurry up and sort out iOS4 for iPad.

VRS Carl

I just got myself an iPad, what is iOS4 please so I know what to look out for.

Also, It will not let me watch live BBC programmes and says it has not got flash and Javascript but I have javascript turned on in the Safari settings menu. It will show BBC iPlayer though.

Also, (sorry to turn the thread into an Ipad teachin) the wireless capability of the iPad seems patchy at best. The reception around the house is poor on the iPad compared to iPods and wireless laptops that we have. Any tips ?

Plus any other words of wisdom would be apreciated. My wife uses it predominantly for web surfing and contacts/calendar. So much more convenient than running round the house chasing kids whilst doing the online shop !!!!

iOS4 is the operating system it uses. Currently you will be on iOS 3.2.2. iOS 4 will bring all the benefits of stuff like folders etc that you can have on the iPhone 4

If you are having issues with the wireless then try turning off the Auto brightness as this can sometimes have adverse effects. This was only a problem on iOS 3.2 and was supposedly fixed with iOS 3.2.1. Make sure you have the latest software installed. It's in Settings> About> Software version. If your still unhappy take it back to Apple and they should exchange it for you.

As far as im aware (haven't tried it recently) BBC iPlayer is not available yet on the iPad as it doesn't support flash (like the iPhone). you can use TV Catchup to watch live terrestrial TV on the iPad though

http://iphone.tvcatchup.com/

Have a look at the review i wrote about mine  HERE  (http://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/index.php/topic,15260.0.html)

Any other questions feel free to PM or start another thread just to keep this one tidy :happy2:

I can watch BBC inlayer through the BBC website but not watch the live news on it. The link to tv progs that Carl gave me works great though. I will see this morning if the grand prix streams onto the iPad. Any other help and advice greatly apreciated

No, my iPhone or iPad are not jailbroken.

I cant watch live TV through the BBC site - just through TVCatchup.

But for past programmes, iPlayer works fine.

On my iPhone the link is www.bbc.co.uk/mobile/iPlayer

Will check the link on my iPad when I get home to see if its any different......
