Title: Best place to buy a Twintake
Post by: swf7y on August 27, 2010, 10:31:56 pm
I have a Golf GTi 2.0T FSI and want to know where the best place to buy a Forge Twintake is?
Basically, where can I get it cheapest.

Also, would I be able to fit it myself or is it best to take it to a garage?

Thanks in advance.

JKM sell them  http://www.jkm.org.uk/performance/tfsiinduction.htm

connecting to the turbo can be a pain in the a$$ but its just a fiddly job thats all, nothing technical about it tbh.  just awkward with with potential for knuckle scrapes

Having the correct hose plies for the turbo clip can be a heaven sent blessing.

You can get one for less than a tenner.

We will have an offer on during september for Forge products, the twintake will be £340.

Fitting is easy, they come with full instructions but as someone mentioned its made a lot easier with the cable type clamp tool (around £15-20)

Larkspeed are doing them for £312 which is a great price, I think I will be going with them probably next week.

....There's a current issue about which way round to orientate the filters! Forge USA don't agree with Forge HQ in the UK (who advised me) but USA might be right. Am waiting for final clarification on this but Forge (as usual) are taking their time. I'll shoot them an email tomorrow.

Didn't you fit them both ways RR and saw gains the right way? Sorry if my sentence doesn't make sense!

....Yes, firstly the USA orientation and secondly the UK orientation. The second way saw negligible performance differences except a better torque curve but they were a month apart, so not very scientific.

I'm a bit frustrated by this and currently not impressed how long it's taking Forge to sort this out. Great product though and nice people (at Forge UK!).

That's right - As in my Twintake review:   http://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/index.php/topic,9988.0.html

I have now emailed Forge asking for an update to this filter orientation saga.

I've read your review RR, one of the reasons I've decided to opt for the twintake over Evoms, ITG etc...

Great review

Keep us updated on the email  :happy2:

Personally I think that the Twintake, ITG, and Evoms, are the best intakes currently available - They all perform extremely well and choice comes down to other factors such as sound, looks, and cost. The rest are 'second division'.  :happy2:

Let's see what Forge have to say... They usually reply to me quite promptly.
