Title: Going to test drive used ED30 and R32 - any advice on VW main dealers?
Post by: CaptainJack on August 31, 2010, 08:37:24 pm
Ok, I've been knocking around this board for a bit and turbo posting without the bloody car to back it up.

Things are - hopefully - going to change soon and I  would appreciate a bit of advice.

I am pretty sure what to look for after reading the boards a while and both these cars are around the 15k mark . Firstly, if I try to buy what sort of offers should I make? The ED30 is new on and will probably shift fairly fast so they are not going to take off loads. I have no part exchange and can offer cash up the asking price (obviously I don't want to let them know this so am not going to post links to the cars in case anyone from VW is sniffing around).

The R32 might be a better bet for haggling as they're so popular with the tax man. This one  has nav and a very high spec.

Both are DSG and leather/ part leather. The only thing I ever really insisted on with a car purchase is leather seats so that's ok.

Lastly, one of them is a couple of hundred miles away and was wondering if the one years warranty is backed up by all VW dealers - ie..it's out of its manufacturer's warranty and this is the approved used warranty. Is that just dealer specific?

Cheers for any advice.

All warranty claims are tackled by any VW main dealer, regardless of where they are in the country.

Cool. That's what I wasn't sure of. If its original 3 years warranty has expired is the approved used one year warranty also nationwide as well!

Cheers.

anyone got any advice on the sort off offers I should make? Got no experience dealing with VW md'ers and I don't want to go so low they don't take me seriously or get antagonistic. I was thinking of taking about a grand off and then prolly going up a bit and asking for more warranty, cheaper next service etc..

any thoughts?
