Had my car for 4 days now and I find myself worrying about were I park it.
Sitting there wondering whether it will get dented etc.
Strange feeling I know. Hope this goes after a period of time.

After a few years of ownership I still worry about these things... :ashamed:

I have to agree
-
''yep'' never goes away.

''yep'' never goes away.
Have to agree... :scared:
-
i have this problem-it drives my wife mad the way i drive round carparks looking for the biggest space with no other cars around it.I think i must have obsesive compulsive disorder!
-
Yep, and it doesn't matter where you go as you always get some strange person's car parking next to you :innocent:

Funny, I was thinking exactly the same!
It's the stalkers you need to watch too - That silver car was following me everywhere:
(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2FRedRobin_05%2FNurburgring2009%2FHurdyHannahRR.jpg&hash=3b482024056fda82404652b3bf897dd27fb92a66)
But, on topic, after 5 years I care just as much as on the first day. It's no stress - It simply becomes habit and if someone else doesn't like it, then tough titty!
-
Try as you might to get a space away from the madding crowd...the following is an example that seems to happen to me in Asda
So I parked here...as you can see VIRTUALLY EMPTY car park. The van on the left spoils the punchline but it WAS NOT there when I left!
(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2Fgg277%2Fnogolfclubsatall%2F891eb731.jpg&hash=00a070fd744011c7191dbf18bc2e265aa58d751f)
...On return from my shopping. (note that I had parked over the chevrons to give more room in case a plonker came and parked in the bay next to me)...What I hadnt realised is that some tit would come and park in the small space besides me to the right...btw IT is NOT a space.. :stupid:
(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2Fgg277%2Fnogolfclubsatall%2F16a9bd04.jpg&hash=c2ac3e3ee98dbab17ec60bafea4e52e35b6b9833)
Should you worry?.....NOT if you take the wifes car on the shopping run!
-
it sure does get worse :happy2:

....It's a bit like the way smoke always follows you no matter where you sit/stand around a bonfire! [I know! I've literally just had a bonfire this morning]. A pity that Myleene Klass didn't appear like a genie from the smoke
-
Strangely the more care you put into your car seems to have a proportional relationship with the anal way you park. It drives the missus a little mad especially when its raining. But as a wise man once said 'tuff titty' :signLOL:
-
I drive my wife bonkers cruising round B&Q/Asda etc.. Last Saturday I found the perfect spot in B&Q.. Miles away from the entrance and exit. Not a car in sight, honest!. F*ck me when I came out 10 mins later somebody had parked next to me..But that aint it... the tw4t reversed in??????
-
I always park between the two most expensive and newest cars i can find or as far away as possible.
My theory is the owners of the expensive cars will be thinking "i hope that tw@t hasn't dinged my car" and will apply equal care getting into theirs and driving off. Or i park as far away as possible so that no one is near me but inevitably someone else sees it as a good idea and parks next to me.
I might start carrying a couple of "No Parking" cones around with me a put them in the bay either side
-
Parking Cones!! Brilliant...Lets get on Dragons Den with that one! we could get them GTI embossed and everything :pomppomp:

Now... thats one person I dont mind dinging my car...especially the bonnet

Only the Beetle Bonnet though. Or have you considered banging into her cameltoe :innocent:

:happy2:
Totally agree. :jumping:
GTI's are like magnets to other cars,
sometimes i think they do it just in badness :fighting:
nice car, lets park beside it.
GTI Traffic cone's, seem to be a good idea :signLOL: :signLOL: :signLOL:
-
I have just come out of RS2000 ownership and I had it really bad with that car and as h4rdy said you then sell it!!!!!!!
I promised myself I would DRIVE and ENJOY this car but its starting all over again!
-
.
I'm a Drive&Enjoy kinda guy rather than work hard at keeping it immaculate, but there's no sense in not taking care to MINIMISE the risks of dinging.... Unless, of course, a hot babe like Myleene Klass is involved. She's free to do anything she likes to me... I think!
The one and only time I've ever kerbed an alloy was when parking outside a Chinese takeaway when the gorgeous 28yo in my passenger seat suggested staying at my place overnight. As that awful crunching sound happened she said: "What was that noise!?" and I replied "Oh, nothing to worry about" *cough*. I'd only had the GTI a few weeks.
-
Or....get one of these fitted!!!
-
One of what?
-
Did the youtube vid not work...I can see it from here....
(south african, anti hijacking device...flames etc)....
-
Ahh that explains it.
The fun police have obviously intervened :fighting:
-
Dont think theres anything offensive in it (though admittedly I didnt view to the end :ashamed:)..perhaps I haven't posted correctly. Still...the idea was that when there are muppets parked alongside, press the button and give them a new paint job.....
-
You'd be surprised at what the fun police stop.
I have argued with them loads. I wouldn't mind but if i use a different log in at my works PC i can view it :fighting:
-
^^^^
Fine, but what happens to the paintwork on your own car doors? :rolleye:
-
Im so bad for this, went to a BBQ a few days ago with my boyfriend and he had already told me there would be a good place for me to park! Got there, couldnt not find anywhere i liked so we ended up having a huge row and me driving home! :signLOL: I hate leaving my GTI any where!!

....I find it refreshing to learn of a girlie who thinks like this :happy2:. It's usually thought of as a blokey thing and criticised by the female of the species.

:
or "this is my company car i dont care"
-
Yeah, it's always been the case, as others have mentioned.
The worst time, was when I had a MK3 Ibiza Cupra, it was silver and really looked nice, I was at a Tesco's, parked in the furthest space from the store entrance, only to come out 5 minutes later to find a crap Ford Mondeo parked so close to me, I couldn't actually get in the car through the drivers side! I couldn't believe it, it was as blunt and deliberate as you like, pathetic, literally had to climb in the passenger side to get in my own car!
However, I won't say exactly what I did, but that car did not go unharmed - childish maybe, but at the end of the day that was a real deliberate thing that was done by them, and for nothing, it's not like i'd taken the last space! There were about 50 free spaces around me!

I get this all the time with mine. My GTI seems to be a magnet for other cars. I could park the other end of the car park but I still get some muppet that parks right agaist my door. :fighting:
