Hi there im new to this forum. I have just bough an 06 black gti. I new it would be a good car, but im stunned how good it really is. I have owned a few different sports cars in my time, but what a great car.
Anyway, my post, it has a rns510 b unit ( i think its a b) fitted. The volume control only works if you apply pressure on it. Does anyone know where or how i can get this fixed.
Sorry if this is in the wrong section of the forum.

hi Darren, the volume button just spins around without changing the volume. To make it work you have to apply pressure in a down direction and then turn it. It then works. Its not the end of the world, its just abit of a pain. Also when driving and you go over a bump the volume bar shows up on the screen. ?? What do you think. ALSO it only seems to pick up 2 or 3 satalites on the nav??. It was a retro fit system.
Thanks
Will.

looks like there is an issue with the button, Morty might be able to sort it, might mean taking it to bits of course , as for the satelites can you see the GPS antenna ?, or is it hidden in the dash somewhere ?, if its hidden moving it somewhere else with less things in front of it should improve the signal

i can at least look at it for you ill try soldering the connections and see if this sorts it? I would presume its just a dry board or a crack in the solder which is why when you push on it it works.
Where abouts are you?

Yes Darren, still going strong thanks mate.
Funny, I've searched for 9 months to see if anyone else has ever had this issue, a day after mine is fixed, someone pops up
Same symptoms as me, i had to hold mine to the left for it to work but by the end there was almost no control. I'm sure Darrens soldering fix will do the trick.
