obvious question has to be:
After seeing the ED39 parked in your garage; Does it fit in your garage?????? :jumping: :P
-
Good choice Mr H! :congrats:
Can't wait to see what you do to it!!
-
obvious question has to be:

Opps :ashamed:
Nice Car John...... abit suprised youve plumpted away from Vag tbh. Hope you enjoy it :happy2:
-

+1. Thought you'd have stayed with German cars at the least.
-
Lovely car! I am a little bit jealous!
-
^ Me too :ashamed:
They are a stunning car. When I'm 25, I'd love to lease one for a weekend. I've heard they're a real drivers car, slightly more enjoyable than the M3 cause you don't expect it to be that brilliant from a Lexus?
Top choice. You're clearly one of the many forum members who works too hard and is paid too much John

Great car John, enjoy it mate, great great car.
there are other marques out there, who make just as good and even better models than VAG. Non VAG Cust service too!
-
^^^
Indeed, lexus Customer service is rated top notch :happy2:
That will be the hardest thing to get used to, a dealer thats helpful
-
Nice choice! Did you drive an M3/RS4/5 too, if so how did they compare with the ISF?
-
Okay, okay
I can't let this teaser go on any further.
The car I took the pic of was the Lexus IS F-Sport, just by coincidence the next pic posted was also a pic of the IS F-Sport too
Mine is a 2.5V6 with evry option ticked and a cruiser like I promised my other half. Cpvers all the bases and the wife loves it.
Leather and Alcantara heated an 8-way electrically adjustable memory seats.
18" lightweight alloys with 225 section fronts and 255 section rears
Sport suspension
Mark Levinson 14 speaker 5.1 dolby surroudsound system
Front load 6 DVD changer
40 gb HDD satnav
reverse camera system
Bluetooth through the sound system (tried this and it sounds like the person is in the car with you!!)
Aux and USB ports for Ipod etc.
A £55k IS-F would have killed my budget of £40k plus trade in for my ED30, when you consider my remit was a more sedate car for the road and a nutjob track specific car.
So £33k for the Lexus gives me around £20k for a trackday motor.......any suggestions welcome for the track car (not an IS-F though :P)
-
^^^^
@ Hurdy:
I knew it!!
-
Keep your Golf!
-
Or an ariel atom....hang on....have a look at the Top Gear test track times and then pick a car that fits in with your budget. :driver: :driver: :driver:
-
The model I'm getting is an IS F-Sport like the one of the pic I took. It has decals all over it like the IS-F has to celebrate Lexus's 20th anniversary and this is their Anniversary special edition model.
Drives and rides very well, but not what I'd call a Sport model to drive and that is what I needed as the wifeee is trying to preserve my life - remember I'm 46 with a wife with back issues and in-laws in their 70's and a mum in her late 60's, so this is the ferry-me-about cruiser. Will lend itself to a tow vehicle for the track car very well though and the sound system is to die for!! I thought mine had good clarity and sound, but this is superb. Most expensive option I've seen on a normal car though at well over £3k.
Plans for a nutter track car are still in-hand
-
The new Partridgemobile has finally landed at Chez Hurdy and very nice it is too. Just fits in the garage and I can actually get out of it too. Some brilliant little touches to it.
A little slow compared to my old trusty steed, but the handling and comfort are superb. First thoughts move to winter wheels as it is RWD.
-
Pics!?
-
I'll get some more when she comes out again.
She fits in the garage too.....just!

Exactly the same as my boss's old one! Nice car which was quite tail happy!
-
I like "tail happy"
-
what the width dif between the golf and Lex?
-
Looks like a tighter fit than the Golf!
-
Very nice John, looking forward to see what track car you end up with, you've gotta stay with some form of VAG, think of the Inters :happy2:
-
Quite like that colour tbh. Better than I thought it would be; seems a swish ride indeed :happy2:
-
.
Smart colour which will benefit a Jap car's appearance. Nice unfussy wheels too.
-
Very nice :happy2:
-
looks good John, but we need better pics than that , and vbox figures :signLOL:
-
That is a very sensible car for you Mr H, bit surprised I have to say! Only a smidge over 200bhp from a 2.5 V6 and a 1/3rd of the torque u had in the ED30 in it's final guise, the weekend track toy can't come soon enough I think!
Liking the colour tho. Does it have a slippy diff??
-

....Talking to John on the phone last night, the Lexus is definitely his family car. A fast family car nonetheless and with a V6 soundtrack and mucho luxury.
-
That is about the jist of it Robin. It has all the luxury toys to keep me happy on the road and a silky smooth V6 and suspension that wafts you gently along at any speed. 70mph in this feels like 30mph as it is that refined - total opposite of what the ED30 ended up as in it's final incarnation when on nitrous. IF I wanted to play with it, there are a few toys to buy and I reckon a HKS exhaust may get put on.
-
^^^^
Yes, you can't have a V6 and not get the joy of hearing it fully.
-
I was looking at some real nice wheels on ebay for the golf and they are pictured on a lexus :happy2:
....your next wheels John???

£1275 without tyres though.

The Lexus will take 8" front and 9" rear without any problems and just like the BMW 3 series looks good on deep dish alloys.
-
nice car John
-
Nice cruiser John :happy2: Looking forward to seeing the toy when it's bought..
-
Well it was a lovely day up here in the Dales, so took the car out after a clean and took a few pics. B
PS - photoplopped the front plate out.

So how you getting on with it?
-
nice photo John...Where were they taken..can you drive over the dam!!Reason i ask is because i was doing a road rally years ago at night and we drove over a dam but i can't remember where it was :ashamed:
-
So how you getting on with it?
Hmm, it's a little "pedestrian". Handles okay and the sound system is amazing. Don't know if it will last long enough to see me to the new S3 debut though

No, you can't drive over that section of the dam. It is the Ladybower reservoir, just before the Snake Pass.
-
Very nice. But no pics of the side/rear/interior.
Looks like an easy, sedate drive. What's it like when overtaking? Or does thecar not have enough torque for that?
-

....Sounds as if you're forgetting it's only meant to be your 'everyday' family car, John
Trouble is that when you've got so used to having great performance at your fingertips anything lesser seems rather dull. The other aspect too is that a higher performance car like your particular Ed30 feels safer to drive as well. But surely the Lexus ain't no slouch?
-
It's very pedestrian in it's power delivery - a little like an R32 with the V6 sound and linear power delivery, but it only has just 208bhp and weighs over 1600kg - so power to weight is a meagre 125bhp/ton. There's enough power to overtake, but now I have to plan overtakes rather than simply look and go! The interior is a very nice place to be. It has the same seats as the IS-F, so side bolstering is good and they are uber comfortable (leather and alcantara). The fit and finish is very good indeed and evrything is nicely damped and solid feeling. LED lit interior is great and not having to use the key at all is weird (keep trying to take the key out when there's no key to take out!)
The manual gearshifts aren't too bad, but not a patch on the DSG, although it will hit the rev limit in gear when in manual which I like.
Very nice. But no pics of the side/rear/interior.

I'll get some interior pics of my own up as soon as I can Jaz :happy2:
Torque is definitely on the lowish side at 250nm = 185lbft
0-62mph is quoted at 8.4, but I've had 8 dead to 60mph and top speed is 140mph.
I like it better than the BMW 3 series though as the cabin is less clinical and the styling is a little better on the IS.
I just wish they did the IS350 over here as that would have been a no brainer for me. 306bhp
