I have done a search but can't find anything.
Does anyone have a guide for fitting a panel filter or maybe a picture of it half fitted/location?
-
Hmm ill see if i can describe it by memory.
Firstly remove the air intake pipe where it joins the vent on the slam panel you will see the hose clip.
Remove the air mass sensor plug.
Remove the engine cover by placing one hand on the bottom left then tug at the top right dont be shy it needs a good tug.
Turn the cover upside down
Remove the screws there are quite a few of them
Seperate the two pieces
Remove filter replace with the new one then replace by doing the opposite of the above.
It only takes 2mins but one top tip i have is before you replace the engine cover give the rubber grommets a light coating of white grease this will aid future removal.
Hope that made sense

That easy? Couldn't see any screws in the cover! So was stumped!
So the panel filter is enclosed in the plastic engine cover?
-
Yes and the screws are all on the underside of the engine cover :happy2:

Take a look at the link below mate. There's a couple of pics to make it clearer....

As above, unclip the connection on the (when your looking down at the engine bay) top left hand corner of the engine cover.
Then undo the air feed connection (bottom right of engine bay).
Pull up (hard!) take the engine cover off.
Turn it upside down on the grass or something soft (so as not to scratch the cover).
Undo the screws, theres a few, but do NOT undo them all the way, you only need to undo them all a certain amount and the airbox area (big rectangle) slides open on a hinge.
Good practice to get the hoover out whilst you've got it all open, take out the old filter and hoover up any excess dust and crap in the airbox.

got all the clips off but the barstewards cover I could not get off!! pulling like a mofo
-
Fun isn't it.
It helps a bit if the engine is warm. Once you know how hard you have to pull its easier each time after that ...
-
Use one hand to pull up a corner, whilst using the other hand slightly further up from where your pulling and apply a small pressure downward (basically so as not to snap a piece off).
Be careful you don't pull hard and smack your arm on the underside of the bonnet when it finally comes off.
-
As i said above the easiest way ive found is too put one hand on the bottom left corner and push down whilst tugging firmly the top right corner.
Dont be shy give it a few good hard tugs it will come off in the end. :signLOL:
-
i nearly flew away when the cover actually came off in my hands, i was pulling that hard!
:chicken:
-
I just can't seen to get the leverage, should I get the front or back off first?
-
Back right corner to start.
-
As above, the two best tips are to warm the engine first and then pull from the right rear corner (as you look at it).
A little squirt of Silicone spray or a little bit of silicone grease on the rubbers when you put it back should help for next time.

Whereabouts are you based? Im sure someone would be happy to help mate if needed?
