Title: keyed car :(
Post by: southy on September 06, 2010, 08:14:03 pm
super pissed off! came back from edition38 which was an amazing weekend!! (il put pics up after) I left my car at home though, and had to leave it parked on the street. came home on sunday night, this morning went out to the car and its been keyed!!  :sad1:
theyve gone to town on the 3/4 panel then scratched it all down the drivers side onto the door  :stupid:
at points there is bare metal showing. il get some pics up later.
im absolutely gutted and just want to know why theyve chosen to do it.
anyone recommend a good bodyshop in the northwest?

im gutted for you. I think its the x factor generation. People just dont seem to care about anything anymore and want everything for free. What would make someone key a great car, or any car. What thought process do these people go through. A bit of national service would sort them out. ( god i sound like my dad )

This seems to happen a lot to GTIs? It must be jealousy I reckon , after all , you wont be able to afford one whilst drawing benefits. I hope you get your car sorted soon.

Sorry to hear that mate,
Did just realise though, It is September which if I remember correctly is the bad luck month of the year for GTI owners.
Look at the pics of my car from Friday night for proof that its not a great month.
Hope you can get it sorted as quick and painlessly as possible.

jesus! That's sickening. It's not even as though someone keyed as they were walking past. This is much more deliberate.

Hope you get it sorted mate. A good bodyshop will make you forget it ever looked like that.

That looks like a very young child has done it. my friend is seeing this girl at the moment and part of the package is her 6 year old boy, they got called to a neighbours house were the lad had done similar to this to a range rover, but he also added his initials.  :rolleye:

That would make me sick if it happened to my car. Gutted for you.

yea i first thought it was a kid but like the bobby who came out said, if it was a kid they wouldnt have gone dow the side of the car, they would probably do the up and down scratches n leave it. i jsut dont have a clue who would do it and why. oh and my dads van which was parked in fornt of the car, has a small patch of scratches which look like theyv been done with the same "tool" by the same tool too
offered all the little scrotes around here £100 cash for whoever shops the culprits in.

Us seat drivers seem to be left alone. Never really get threads like this on seatcupra.net whilst its common on this golf forum?

I'm so sorry to see that, its a bloody disgrace.

Seems quite a few people over here use this:
www.drivesurveillance.com/DRS1100PRO.html

I know it's a bit late now but it may be worth it in the future? One guy used it to catch someone who was repeatedly keying his car and sticking a screwdriver in the tyres.

I hope you find a good paint shop and get it sorted.

Southy, sorry to hear this.  I've had the same thing happen to me with my mk4 Anni.

Gaskell motor bodies in great harwood did the full car respray and it was bloody good.

We (family's structural steel company) built they're unit too! Lol

Go over and see nick for a quote.

I remember a story of a guy in the late eighties, I think. He wired his car to a cattle prod that was mounted underneath after repeated vandalism.  :congrats:
A judge ruled it dangerous and ordered him to remove it.
