I know your not all aware of this but as MK5GTi's chief Apple PR Guru :innocent:  i was shocked to learn that the Hotb33fd3v team are a group of females :surprised:
Not only that they have managed to bypass all signature checks recently and go straight to the file system. Something not achieved by any other jailbreaking team :surprised:
h0tb33f is a group of female iPhone hackers and are having numerous exploits in their kitty. In past, these iPhone hackers managed to send 0×0 to the bootrom in order to boot it untethered! Doing so, they were able to jump straight to the filesystem and bypass any Signature checks.
-
But the question remains: are they hot?
-
Any woman who can safely fiddle with my Apple products is hot in my book
-
Can they prevent me from throwing my Iphone at the wall though, since it has had Iphone 4 software loaded on it.. Getting on my tits is an understatement, it's slower than a ZX Spectrum.. :fighting:
-
Get an iPhone 4 then

I would have to fully agree.
Every version of os4 appears to be getting worse rather then better.

Get iOS 4.1 on the phone and apparently everything is now sorted for the iPhone 3G/S
-
Here is a Vid posted of the iPhone 3G on iOS 4.0 against iOS 4.1
-
Sitting here eagerly waiting for 4.1. I haven't experienced any slow down on my 3gs with ios4 but I cracked the screen and have borrowed my brothers 3g to use and its so slow its unusable!
-
Why wait
http://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/index.php/topic,18917.0.html
I'm running it already :happy2:
-
I guess this 4.1 is recently out and there's not a jailbreak for it yet??
I only just popped my jailbreak cherry with ios 4 but wouldn't be without it now!

....It looks like photofuket took away your Apple women images to fiddle with them!
(I'm referring to your sig, Carl)

Think im still running 3.2 or something, havnt updated mine in ages and things are starting to cock up on it :rolleye:
Really not sure whether to update it or not its already slow, guess its time for an iphone 4
-
Carl,
So am I right in thinking that the new software makes the iphone 3g faster than the 3gs? Sorry for my newbishness :ashamed: I keep promising myself a cheap iphone, and this looks like the answer :happy2:
Can I ask, Is anyone here on O2? or anyone know about there contracts?
-
Im on O2.
As for the iOS4 making a 3G faster than a 3GS that isn't the case im afraid.
The test i linked was for 2 identical iPhone 3G. one running iOS 4.0.2 and the other running iOS 4.1
The firmware only makes the iPhone 3G run faster than it did on iOS 4.02.
As for O2 what do you want to know about it?
-
Hi Carl, basically I have been on O2 for years and they have always looked after me.
Some of you may know that I have been off work for nearly 2yrs due to a bad motorcycle accident, so being skint, when it comes to contracts they will have to be cheap. (well at least for another year)
When I left hospital after the accident I called O2. My contract was ready for re-newing and I told them that I needed to cancel as I was out of work, and would be for a long time. (I used to pay £45 a month)
They then told me that they would give me a handset free upgrade for 18mths giving me 200mins 200txts all for FREE!!! I was shocked, but true to their word, I have not had a penny to pay for the last 18mths. (I obviously never went over the 200mins/texts)
Anyway since that deal expired a few months ago, my bills have been about a tenner, and TBH I wouldn't really want to pay more than £15 a month, if I start another contract.
If I do get myself a cheap iPhone, I will have to get a contract with now includes internet. I haven't bothered with the internet on my phone since the accident and really the 200mins/200texts was enough for me, since I don;t use the phone for work anymore.
Is there any tariff you know of, that would be any good for me? and is there anything I need to ask for when I upgrade? (i'm not sure about all the internet usage stuff etc)
Last of all mate, any tips on buying a used iPhone? Is the standard 3G with iOS4.1 any good? or should I hold out for a 3GS? Do I need a jailbroke one?
Sorry for all the questions buddy :ashamed: Its just that at the moment, an iPhone would be a luxury rather than a necessity. I am trying to see if I can afford one now, or if I should wait till I'm back working and then get a brand new one on contract.
Thanks again.
Carlo.

Hi Carlo, sorry to hear about your accident.
There is an O2 pay as you go sim you can get.
Have a look at this table as this is the Sim only PAYG offers from O2. Your only tied in a month at a time with them.

With regards to the Phone if you can afford it get a 3GS. The phone is noticeably quicker than a 3G ( i went from a 3G to 3GS before i got the 4).
You don't need to get a Jailbroke one you can do it yourself in about 10 mins ( although there is no Jailbreak for iOS 4.1 yet but will be soon).

Any other Q's just ask mate :happy2:

Thank you so much Carl :happy2: I will be in touch via "pm" when I get an iPhone. That first offer for £20 looks just right for me.
-
That video looks impressive.
IOS4.1 is on iTunes now, just getting it for my iPhone 4 then I'll put it on the guvnor's 3G, hopefully she'll like it :happy2:
-
Eagerly awaiting 4.1 jb before I do the update ! Come on dev team ladies release it already lol
-
Check Tesco tariffs as well - they also do the iPhone and have some pretty good tariffs!
-
iOS 4.1 seems to have sorted out all the speed issues on my trusty old 3G, chuffed! :happy2:

Members of both iPhone Dev Team and Chronic Dev Team confirmed this on Twitter:

cpich3g: congrats to @pod2g for the latest exploit and also @p0sixninja who have been trying for months.

MuscleNerd: Crazy timing that @pod2g got latest exploit just as 4.1 went public (lots of work left…keep away from 4.1 for now!)

bootrom exploit found :star:

can any confirm that if i update my jailbroke 3gs running os 3.something that i will lose eveything that is on it via the jailbrake at the moment? i want os 4, but i dont want to lose the things that are already installed. (or is there a way of saving the stuff somewhere, updating to os 4, jailbreaking then putting everything back on?
Does that make any sense to anyone, because i think i have confused myself!
-
You'll lose the JB and I think the apps won't run.
-
As Stu says you will lose the Jailbreak.
This means:
- if you Unlocked the phone it will be relocked to the Original network (i.e O2 for 3G)
- Any Apps downloaded via Cydia,Appulo etc, will not reload on the phone (even if you have put them in iTunes)
Your best bet is wait for the Jailbreak for iOS4.1 to come out ( within the next week i would say as the exploit was found 3 hours after it was released), Update then to iOS4.1, Jailbreak, Unlock & restore all your apps :happy2:

If you don't mind signing up for 12 months you can get an iPhone Simplicity sim for £15 a month with the same texts and minutes.

Thanks Mb :happy2: Thats even better :notworthy: I take it you mean that for £15mth you get the 300mins deal? thats a cracking deal

I know this is the wrong thread for me to be asking all these questions, but I think the time for an iPhone is long overdue. :ashamed:
Does anyone know the best place to get a 2nd hand 3gs? should I be looking at the 16gb? There are a few on ebay, but loads of them are in the USA. Are these any good, or are the set-up differently?
Whats a fair price for a good condition used one?
-
Yep! If you sign up to the 12 month iPhone Simplicity tariffs you get the same mins/texts as the 1 month tariffs but for £5 less.
I got my 3GS off eBay.
