Hi all,
I bought my Gti about 2 weeks ago now and have been reading the forum everyday to pick up info and finally decided it’s about time I said hello. I have an 05 plate in steel grey, 36K on the clock, leather, think I have the winter pack? ( because I have the heated seats) and not too sure if I have other extras, people would have to list them before I would know. I bought the car more on its history than spec, 1 previous owner full service history plus low mileage and an excellent price is what sold it to me.
Unfortunately I’ve run into my first problem already though, had the car in the garage today because the air con wasnt blowing very cold, I have been informed my air conditioning compressor is up the duff and needs replacing, which seems like a common problem with these. Anyway, I'll get some pics up over the weekend after I have given it a good clean and look forward to learning more about the car.

Hello & welcome to the site

Hi and Welcome.... :driver:
-
hello and welcome! :)
-
welcome to the site...hope you got a warranty if you bought it of a garage as the air con pumps are expensive
-
hi and welcome
-
The car does come with 12 months warranty but it just so happens that the air-con parts aren't covered within it. I'm going to go back and see the dealer though as I think its slightly un fair that a car is advertised as having air-con but it doesn't work. I'm not expecting him to pay for the whole job but a contribution towards it would be nice. Still no pics though guys, busy weekend but I'll get some up soon. Thanks for the welcome everyone
-
When you purchased the air and the air con didn't work then -i would want the garage to fix the problem and foot the bill
-
Welcomes. :happy2:
I concur, the garage should be paying the bill in full. Have you seen how much a replacement is.
-
Yes I have found the part, seen the cost and spoke to a garage about labour costs too so am aware its not a cheap job at all. I didnt buy the car from a VW dealer, it was a second hand car dealer, im not sure if this makes any difference, but I would think they are less likely to foot the bill than VW would be. Anyway, i'll get hold of them over the next couple of days and keep all updated.

Hi,
I'm new here too. and just signed up because of an air con problem. I have a 2007 gti, guessing it is a common problem.
How much is the dealer asking for compressor if you don't mind me asking? I would be interested to hear how it's sorted.
-
Well I need to double check the part I have found is the correct one, I'm sure I can check the part number somewhere? But I have found them 2 different places with quite a price difference which makes me thing the cheaper one is not the right one. Would anyone be able to tell me if either of these are the correct part? My local garage which usually carries out servicing and the M.O.T will do me a deal with the labour, should I have to go this route.

(There must be a way to make these links tidier? Does standard html not work?)
....One way is to write it like this:
[ url=http://www.web address the long gobblygook ][ color=blue ][ u ] Your own text here [ /u ][ /color ][ /url ]
^ I've put spaces in so you can read the code. Up to you if you want colour and underscore.
All the reader would see is "Your own text here", underscored, in colour, and it would be a live link.
