Hi Chaps, been a while since i posted on here, been away in Vietnam with work and then broke my ankle !!!!

Anyway, I've been reading a few threads on various forums, and was wondering if the Navigation Savvy people could answer the following of questions ?

As I understand it (rightly or wrongly) VW are due to launch the Version 7 maps in November of this year. I also understand that the current limitation of not doing a full post code lookup is map related and not RNS hardware related ? Does anyone know or think that the new maps will allow full 7 digit post code look up ?

Secondly, when I got my unit from Jay, it already had Version 6.1 maps loaded with customied POI's by Darren (Speed Cameras, Fast Food joints etc). I have absolutley no idea how you do this, but guess that it's about time I updated the speed camera database.

Is there a simple idiots guide anywhere to doing this with the required software required, or is it pretty complex and should I leave well alone ?

 Cheers

 Andrew

It's anyone's guess as to wether VAG will buy a license to the 7 Digit Postcode database.

Personally i don't think they will. It would be good if they do but i think they will see it as not cost effective.

Having not updated the maps for a long time on mine ( i tend not to bother and just use my eyes  ) last time i did it i used POI inspector. If you look around on the net you could aquire it FOC.

There are how-to's over on VWNavi for what to do.

Hi Norbreck21a, you need to take a look at SteveP guide here.

looks quite complicated but once you get into it and follow the guide I’m sure it will be O/K  :happy2:

Vw already have 7 digit p/code searching along with 3d building imaging only available on the RNS815 at the moment but I would think the next firmware and map disc maybe a big change and for the better...
