Hi guys looking for some opinions
Thinking of going to look at a silver 07 ed30 dsg at a local garage
it seems a good price £12988 the only thing is the milage 54500
the miles is the only thing putting me off in 1 year it will be 64000 miles
When dose the golf need a timing belt? and will the dsg still be good at this milage
Cheers Gary

dont worry about milage  its a car they are for driving :driver: and belts 100k or something silly on the ed30  but it says it in the service book and i do 20k a year in my ed30 and they should do over 500k miles if looked after

Check the service book, timing belt at 40,0000 along with DSG oil change at same time.
-
I have just noticed on 1 of the pics the drivers seat bolster is a bit worn
how easy is that fixed and at what cost?

The Edition 30 has part leather seats and the bolsters are leather. Unfortunately, VW kept the best leather for Audi and crappy "leather" for VW. Hence well known problem with bolsters.

who told you that 40k for belts think your wrong on that one as it clearly states it the service book 100k or something daft
-
I thought timing belt was 60k - where's T_T when you need him :signLOL:
-
Timing belt 40k or 4 years as far as I know, I've seen the service book say 100k but apparantly its wrong.

The regime has changed as stated above. Best get yourself a new belt pronto if you want to make it easily to 500,000.

So would the milage put you guys off yes or no
and does 12988 sound about right?

Any extras,SatNav etc?

infact i was only at vw a few weeks ago and asked them about and they same 100k  not bothered as i am having mine changed in a few weeks anyway as i think it needs doing due to the mods on the car but just dont get how the book can be wrong. I think vw need to tell people the book is wrong
-
Afaik it is 4 years regardless of mileage. Get it done but call Vw customer service to confirm the mileage, I got conflicting info, some say 40, 60 or 100k. Do not go by that book.
-
Mine has done 64k..at 60k had the cambelt, tensioner and water pump done at Stafford Audi for £329 all in.....If you buy the ED30 best get the cambelt done as a precaution.....if you don't and it snaps you will be paying a lot more than £300 to put it right.

so the book is wrong if it is are vw liable if belt fails i would think so

500k sounds a bit optimistic mat!!! Lol

plenty of cars out with way over that on em :P
-
Mileage wouldn't bother me , seen a few ed30's and golfs with way over 100k and still feel good/tight when driven.
Make sure it's had the DSG oil change which was due at 40k
Personally I would change the belt at 60k or 4 years for peace of mind :happy2:
Think it would be a hard one getting vw to cough up if your tb snapped under 120k as in their service checks from 40k up it states to check the condition/signs of wear of the toothed belt.

Mines started chirping at 63k,anybody had any experience of a garage changing theirs? Eg not Vw Audi?. Woundered how
Much other places are charging as I'm peg lint
