Title: Painted Brakes
Post by: NeilM on September 11, 2010, 05:02:42 pm
The brake calipers and bells looked s**t after just 3 months, and can be easily seen because of the open wheels.

Went for Black Chrome Calipers and silver bells, I thought about red calipers but didnt want to piss of the Gti even more

Very bling Neil!  :happy2:

Nice to know it's not just VW that skimp on the final finish of components!

Looking good Neil  :happy2:

What did you use? Hammerite? Also did you remove them from the car or just Jack it up and do it?

I must admit I bottled out of doing them my self with a brush and can of Hammerite  :signLOL:  I dont know why manufacturers cant have a finish on them that wont rust!

Your a bit restricted to what paint you can use on the bell as it gets hotter than the calipers which are taken of and stripped down, the flexible parts had to be painted plain black.

£300 seems alot but if I let it get worse it would be harder to clean up, I think I'll give the bill to BMW  :happy2:

Very smart and definitely how BMW should have supplied it originally - Looks totally OEM but high quality.

Very nice job that. My 330i needs the same treatment as I've only had it a couple of months and the brakes are letting it down too  :drinking:
