REVO Stage 1, around 290-300.  Stage2+ 330 ish

My ED30 custom mapped (stage 1) is 297bhp

as above although if you add a good intake you should break the 300hp marker

My car done 284 and 294 bhp on different rolling roads on stage 1. So make your own conclusions. Bluefin Map though on mine.

do you have to upgrade the brakes/suspension before attempting this kind of work? are there other downsides to having this done eg other parts components but under strain and wear out?

My giac mapped car did 305 with map and panel filter. The end of the day they are just numbers, power is nothing if you can't get it down properly.

Mine ran at RS tuning on Dyno Dynamics, if your getting at 297bhp not being a reliable figure on mine, .........so make your own conclusion.

....Experienced professionals in the industry say that Volkswagen design and build an approximately +40% headroom tolerance.

The more you push the performance envelope, the more various components will be stressed if they are standard from VW factory. So it's a case of recognising that limitation and modifying accordingly.

Aftermarket brakes aren't necessary but as you're likely to be going faster at times you'll be glad to have them - Especially an improved pedal response feel.

Likewise, using your extra performance will benefit your handling and driving joy if your suspension is appropriately modified and it ain't a case of just slamming down low.

The only thing is though mate the 4 wheel drive flatters you into thinking your a good driver when actually its the car doing it for you, so having 4 wheel drive does not make you a good driver, all it does is cover up your mistakes, bet i would get round a track faster than you in most conditions. I speak from experience as i have an 06 impreza sti which is for sale and trust me it makes no dam difference on a dry day. on most track days the front wheel drive cars are quicker even with less power.

that's cos the STI is one lardy fecker and even wiv 3 diffs it WILL still understeer.

Lighter more nimble things with less power can run rings round one if they're driven well.

LOL mine dont understeer, got fully adjustable WRC ohlin suspension on and all the other goodies to go with it, not short of power either, just under 400 bhp, laps the ring in 8.23, nuff said mate.

You dont because you cant, simples.

lol what a pointless statement. The car does it for you regardless of fwd, awd or rwd. You still have to put your foot down in a way that works best with the car. A quattro car is not as easy to launch as you think!

what kind of bloke comes on and bets someone he can get around a track better than someone else because he has an impreza.

he could be a professional racin driver for all you know.  for instance we have a guy who has been a member for years wh races in the le mans, maybe your faster than him as well.

iirc the S3 doesnt have quattro.  it is a haldex AWD system that is predominantly FWD unless the car detects slip.  cars like the A4 4wd have proper torsen diff quattro permanent 4wd systems.  i could be wrong

Quattro is just audi's haldex (DSG/S-tronic for example) The RS models have 'proper' awd with better splits although the facelift S3 has haldex 4 which can send 100% either front or rear.

Oh and im not a racing driver at all  :signLOL: Though i do agree with you. Imprezza's are awful noisy chav wagons!

Yup, it's amazing how many people with 4WD/Quattro/AWD are crap off the line because they think they can just sidestep the clutch and hold on. Not realising it will just bog down. They also dont realise that unless it is persisting down or snowing then FWD/RWD is better anyway. IIRC they did a test a few years back in EVO magazine and it turned out that in anything but Rain/Snow 4WD was slowest & RWD was the best :driver:

Going back to the original question....

My car ran 230bhp (spot on what it should be) on JKMs rollers when it was standard.  After Revo it ran 278bhp on the same rollers.  HTH :happy2:
