Title: red r32 with team dynamics, Ferrari f40 brakes and recaro pole positions
Post by: chrishalfpenny on September 13, 2010, 07:56:04 pm
I brought this car 3 weeks ago and decided i should start a little build thread up as its had a few things done already, so the car looked like this 3 weeks ago (https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2Foo345%2Fchrishalfpenny%2F38918_457624356521_762561521_6328778_806299_n.jpg&hash=5be3f893fa91c4847ee2e6484ca83cec7a0d7639)
then i booked my car into regal autosport for milltek non resonated cat back exhaust and evoms intake with heat shield which was all installed along with the coilovers that i had brought previously off a forum member. I had already brought the wheels which are ccw corsairs from regal autosport which came off there demo car and brought some kw v3 from a forum member who had just sold his car at a bargain of a price and this is how it looks now (https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2Fchrishalfpenny%2Fr32%2Fr32ccwslideshot.jpg&hash=9ad1353cc67cede0fd2398359f2e469901627017)
(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2Fchrishalfpenny%2Fr32%2Fther32ccw.jpg&hash=73051300feb7f8ed6242261a30a2f749d7daf4f1)
(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2Fchrishalfpenny%2Fr32%2Fr32ccw.jpg&hash=5ca21f6470a64b4722be1ab4027e6935fe0e6a9f)
I wanted the car looking half decent for vw players as its the last show of the season and probably the best, this car is not all about show i want it to be more go which is why its not "slammed" i wanted a nice balance between looks and drive-ability. As for future plans i want to finish off the rest of the exhaust system fit the unibrace that is winging it way to me as i write via royal mail's finest :) then cams, software, and a rotrex charger but there will be plenty of changes along the way.

There's a mk4 R32 around Southampton with the number plate R32 HOT, does make the car stand out more.

Good luck finding the right plate.  :happy2:

....Now THAT is a very cool (or hot) plate.

Such plates give a car individual identity - I hate gooblygook plates, they're just bureaucratic govn'ment license numbers.

Cheers mate there 18x8.5 et38 I think from memory. I brought them for regal autosports  who had them custom made to fit there mk5 demo car perfectly at great expense from ccw in USA. They had them on the car for a month or two then took them off and sold them to me at a much reduced priced ;)

In truth I'm not a fan of the wheels - Too reflective shiny for my taste - But it would be dull if we all liked the same. As said before, I love the R32 in red.

Just going on from that, we have a Red R32 in at the min with the reg R32 RED! looks awesome on the car....

Loving the corsairs tho, they really set the car off a treat!

These wheels are only for the summer which is almost over so I have a set of team dynamics 1.2 for winter use. And please tell you customer I want that plate I tried buying it about 3 weeks ago off of a number plate website but he had just put it on a new car he had brought, please ask him if he wants to sell it yet :)
Title: Re: red r32 with ccw corsairs
Post by: jabbalad on September 16, 2010, 02:32:46 pm
Haha yea he had some work done to his last mk5 R32 (in red) sold it, then decided he shouldnt of done... he then had to buy another red one to go with his number plate so hes having all the same stuff done again

I kept looking into the corsairs you bought but couldnt get the money together at the time, so if you decided to sell them at any point after next month let me know  :happy2:

Seriously tho, buy Hurdys KW topmounts if there still there and you will be onto a winner as the top of the front wheel will tuck in a bit more then, those wheels were specked run with adjustable topmounts if i remember correctly

The 'R32 RED' plate is very special. A tribute to the car rather an owner's ego.

Yeah I've been saying this to my mate that the front and rear need a smidgen of camber, I can get them to stop rubing next thing is arch rolling and maybe a slight pull, I was under the impression that kw v3 don't work with the adjustable top mounts?

it does if you get costum made spring "dishes" made.

I'm in the process of getting several sets made  :happy2:

They will fit, but you will need the Clubsport or Eibach springs....  70-170 60mm id springs  (70 NM - 170mm extended length)
With these you wount have to fart about with making special top caps!

It completely changes how the car handles and is probably the next BIG step after the coilovers if you ask me.... plus you wouldnt need to do any arch work then  :happy2:

.... x 2

Lighterweight wheels feel very noticeably different and deliver more feedback to the driver. Much as I love my powdercoated 12kg Monza 18's I'm reluctant to go back to them - My OZ Alleggerita's are two-thirds of the weight!

photos taken with my iphone so the picture quailty is rubbish but you get the idear. The only problem i have with them is there not low enough for me so im going to have to figure something, while fitting the seats we stripped the rear out which is something Ive wanted to do for a while since seeing Jonny c ed30, its really loud now which i like, more noise the better. I really want to tidy the rear up with a custom fitted carpet and after reading jonny c thread again today and yesterday im thinking polycarbonate (i think thats what there called) windows. I know its a r32 and some people may think its a stupid choice for a track car when you compare it to the lighter ed30 but i wanted to do something different and that v6 noise just cant be beaten and when I finally get round to fitting some sort of forced induction fitted it should be quick. Ive also got the big brake kit that i brought of T88om to be fitted once its back from dave freshly powder coated blue which im looking forward to.

I brought them from capital seating, apart from there stupid website that doesn't list specific subframes for each car Which caused me to buy the wrong subframes they where very helpful and i would recommend them. They sell all recaro seats and prices are very good.

Love the seats.

Any pictures of the F40 brakes and did they go on ok and you managed to keep your offset?

Also I was shocked to see the R32 calipers are left blue by VW.

I had wondered about this the other day as I had powder coated mine.

I've always had a R32 itch, Joe. I was serious when I investigated a swop and borrowed a Mk5 when it first came out and tested it back-to-back over a set road course with my GTI. However, much as I love the V6 soundtrack it didn't feel so tactile and drank petrol like it was going out of fashion!

A close friend of mine (BIALI boy Dan) has a great Mk4 R32 which I have driven occasionally and on Milltek it's awesome!  :notworthy: :notworthy:

Too late now but I reckon I would have bought one if available earlier and in those pre-forum days I didn't know it was coming.

After a conversation with kate at jkm i will be dropping it off tomorrow for the week to have my miltek manifolds/ cats installed along with the big brake kit and hopefully stage 2 revo map which im looking forward to a bit more noise. I am looking at doing a few track days this summer if anyone has some good suggestions as to where to do my very first track day i would appreciate it.

I've done the ring ( no pun intended) but it was in my derv daily which is pretty low so could really go too fast, was intending to go back 3 weeks ago had everything booked and then they closed the ring for a month  :stupid: this year is out of the question as I'm now going to new York and I have new business commitments but next year I'll be up for it. Hedge how loud are we talking?

I've got anthracite td 1.2 on now as there a lot lighter than the Ccw
