Title: Audi International Castle Combe
Post by: simonp on September 15, 2010, 06:34:57 pm
October 9th. Anyone going to this?

http://www.castlecombecircuit.co.uk/events/display_event.asp?EventID=272

I believe they're opening up the track sessions to all VAG cars this year, rather than just Audis.

Well speaking to Mr Birkett lately things maybe different so we'll see. Don't ask don't get at end if the day. And they know I normally bring a top set off cars along that shows up the audis  :signLOL:

Right I'm allowed a stand for this event. Need to know how many attendees/spaces are required. It's rather full of Audi's already but Mr B has kindly offered to squeeze us in. I've provisionally said 5-10 cars.  Need to call him back on monday to confirm and I can co-ordinate the passes.

Who wants to be on a stand?

1) Chungster
2) Stokeballoon
3) Hedge
4) Tara ??
5) Simonp??
6) N8KOW ??

1) Chungster
2) Stokeballoon
3) Hedge - maybe
4) Tara ??
5) Simonp??
6) N8KOW ??

Ah u going there for both days then? I thought about brands but gonna watch it at home instead.

Milltek are gonna be at Combe so guess phil might be there on sat and head to brands on the Sunday for the racing.

rang him this morning.

will confirm on monday how many we need. give people time to show up on this thread.

if no further response, i'll just ask for 5 place plot and i'll send out the club display passes to those who want one.

he was trying to get me to book a track sesh tho. guess the numbers are still not quite there despite the display side being full. typical audi drivers...all pose no go  :signLOL:

but we'll see  :happy2:

ive done castle combe twice this year and been to the Ring....car's done enough track work for the year.

but the brakes are squealing like mad at the mo, so am tempted to do a couple of sesh to try and "fix" it  :signLOL:

even tho thats not the way to fix it!!!!
Title: Re: Audi International Castle Combe
Post by: BeezerDiesel on September 24, 2010, 05:41:21 am
I'm a possible/probable for the event.
Will be driving up after a 12 hour nightshift so won't stay the whole day and certainly won't be going out on track as I'll be a little jaded. Unless I'm invited for any passenger rides.... :innocent:
Had my GTI Revo'd at this event last year a few weeks after I got it.
Then I got a ride in the REVO K1. That certainly kept me awake!

If you're running a stand I'd be more than happy to join you, but it may be a bit odd as so far I can see Lee's Scirocco and two silver mk6s going on a mk5 GTI stand
Title: Re: Audi International Castle Combe
Post by: chungster on September 24, 2010, 07:20:34 am
Lol not weird at all! There's 2 Roc Rs, 2 Mk6 Gti's, 1 Mk5 Gti, 1 Mk5 fridge possibly....gotta show up these Audis you know!

Neil did say there's already one non Audi club display which surprised him and he doesn't want to turn this club away (he knows I've done a stand at castle Combe for many years) so he won't mind as long the cars are quality.  :happy2:

Stand is provisional but it'll be confirmed on Monday  :happy2:
Title: Re: Audi International Castle Combe
Post by: BeezerDiesel on September 25, 2010, 04:53:46 am
I'm guessing the other non Audi stand will be VAGowners Lee?
They seem to get a decent number of cars (and owners!) on their stand every time I visit Combe for a trackday and I ride up shotgun with some of them from there on occasion.
Title: Re: Audi International Castle Combe
Post by: chungster on September 25, 2010, 09:09:24 am
Nope its a very very small club actually...hence Mr B was surprised. They were there in July tho with 3 cars.

So we have confirmed at the mo for the stand....

1) Chungster
2) Stokeballoon (well I'll assume you want to be on the stand!!)
3) SteveP
4) Beezerdiesel

Anyone else who wants to be on the stand need to post on this thread ASAP before Monday cos I'm calling Autometrix then.

I will only request enough passes to get the peeps confirmed on this thread into the paddock display.

Cheers!

To save on stamps we could meet beforehand, say at McDonalds in Chippenham for example? That's what I've done before on other days at CC. McMuffin, coffee and off up the road to Tiddleywink!

Could do but people aren't always able to get their on time for 9am etc so I don't mind posting the passes out to each person really like I've done previously.

Nope never find out until you get there on the day! It won't be a prime spot as it is an Audi show after all. VW had theirs in July

Nope never find out until you get there on the day! It won't be a prime spot as it is an Audi show after all. VW had theirs in July

When I was there for the Spring Action Day we knew in advance.

I'm sure Mr B knows but with this kind of event it's not as busy as the others so there's more room for flexibility.
Title: Re: Audi International Castle Combe
Post by: simonp on September 30, 2010, 01:24:05 pm
That's why I asked. When I've been before the passes have had the stand location on them and the gate marshals can point you the right way as you come in.
Title: Re: Audi International Castle Combe
Post by: chungster on September 30, 2010, 02:13:43 pm
Spring action day isn't run by Autometrix! Course Mr B knows where he's putting us but rarely do clubs find out in advance if it's run by AUtometrix. And I doubt we're up at quarry.

Hey up Lee, thanks for setting this up.  Great time.  Did the mod in an hour at home, and didn't need to remove  or loosen the armrest at all,  all done now.

Cheers  again Lee, and great to see everyone else, Ian (AKA steer like you stole it Hedge) displayed his number of cylinders to me, and I woke when he had finished!

Good turnout of VW's at the Audi show!!!!!!!!  a GTi, 2 R32's, 2 Rocco R's and an Eddy even a Skoda!

 :popcornsoda:

Ermm difficult question. The sportec RS owner sorta rubbished the revo cars and was saying how much faster his car is but it didnt look any quicker than jamiekips revo TTRS even though its apparently 50hp down, and I spoke to a guy in a leon sport with a maxxed out k03 who said the sportec RS was quick but not 480bhp quick when they were tussling it out on track!

I also like the switchability of the revo, but revo arent gonna be doing a hyrbid map for it.

Waiting on sportec to get back to me about prices for the hyrbid process, but after seeing jamies car pretty much being on par with the v10 r8 id say revo.

Hello guys and gals,

Nice to meet some new peeps today and get a little insight into VW ownership (only 3 or 4 weeks for me so far). There were some stunning motors there today and I think I need a new zorst after seeing so many nice tailpipes that make mine look inadequate!

Thanks to Lee for sorting the pitch out and thanks to whoever it was started the thread and started the ball rolling.  :notworthy:

Remember the drink you had. Nuff said!

Good day and a cracking turnout. Last year it was so quiet compared to this year you wouldn't believe.

Thanks for setting this up Lee. :happy2:

Apologies (esp to Lee) for my no show. Got home off my night shift with headache, took a couple of paracetamol and sat on the sofa with my laptop, next thing I knew it was about 10 in the morning and I felt like crap. The joys of shift work folks (study hard at school kids and get a proper job).
Was looking forward to the show too and has spent ages making sure the car was immaculate then not using it all week beforehand :sad1:

I watched some on track action for a short while whilst passing coombe early afternoon

Does anyone know who was on track in a black mk5 tdi? The whole session I watched he was glued to the rear end of a blue S3 who looked to be trying to loose him the whole time, until the golf seemed to outbrake the S3 going down into tower!
S3 didn't seem too impressed being overtaked by a diesel.
