Title: Pollen Filter
Post by: Boothy on September 16, 2010, 11:51:50 am
Has anyone replaced the pollen filter on the GTI that could talk me through doing mine. Somebody told me it was behind the glove box but I can't see anything and I'm not sure how the glove box is remove?

Any help appreciated.

Ta, Boothy.

I'm doing this from memory so bear with me and it was on my vRS but the process should be the same/similar

Stick your head in the passenger footwell and look up towards the underneath of the glove box.

You will see 2 thumbscrews. Use a coin or hands to undo those and remove them and the black lining stuff that has holes in it where the round vents pop through.

Then you will see the Pollen Filter housing (long rectangle shaped plastic strip) iirc this slides towars the passenger door and then drops down. The filter is then inside there. Just pull out and replace. I always clean the housing out with a hoover aswell before putting a new one in.

Then do everything back up in reverse :happy2:

EDIT: or just follow this guide if mine doesn't make sense

Exactly as VRS Carl said ^^^

Although get a hoover ready, as when you take the old one out, it will be full of dirt, leaves etc! And will mess up the mats, so have the hoover ready to clean up before you replace the filter :)

.........just unfold an old news paper & cover the footwell with it.  :happy2:
