Title: R32 rear with GTI exhaust - Any advice?
Post by: Garth on September 17, 2010, 11:05:58 am
As title,

I'm looking to put an R32 rear bumper on my car but I don't want a centre exit exhaust. I'm sure I remember someone else doing this, so does anyone have any idea if the lower black part is available aftermarket to fit a GTI exhaust? Does the lower half of the bumper come in 1 part like the ED30, or 2 separate parts? I know they come apart, but do VW sell them as 1 or 2 items?

Any other tips or advice welcome  :drinking:

You may have noticed that the self imposed modding ban is about to be lifted again

the r32 bumper comes in two bits mate.
and there are a few lower aftermarket sections i believe that have traditional exhaust placements or you can find a clever kind soul who can plastic weld the holes and cut out std placement for you?

and it looks like i have taken over your ban........ for the short forseeable future, due to lack of funds and a poss house move in january :sad1:

Nice find big al, might look in to that  :happy2:
My only concern is non VW parts might not fit correctly.

Cooper, that part is just what I'm after, but at 169 Euros just for the diffuser, it's bloody expensive!

Garth - that mod will look great  :happy2:

Sorry to hijack, but if you put this diffuser on an r32, are there any exhausts manufactured to suit if you know what I mean, or would you need a fabricated one? Thanks.

Bit confused by the question there mate.
Are you asking that if you had an R32 that you would be able to put a GTI exhaust on it?

Sorry - yes if I had an r32, and with this duffuser made it look similar to a gti at the back, is there an twin exhaust available for the r32 that exits as per the gti? I assumed a gti one would not fit due the underside being different for the haldex?? (I know everyone goes from gti look to r32, but can it be done the other way)? cheers for any help  :happy2:

That looks mint!!  :happy2:

I was going to leave my rear bumper standard now I've got the APR RSC exhaust, but after seeing this.......

for me the worst thing about the mk5 gti's were the rear bumper and side skirts in cheap looking textured plastic.
thats why IMO the r32 lookes way better as does the ed30 and hell even the mk4s look more complete.. so why anyone would go from r32 to a gti look is beynd me.
these are meaty cars we drive but the std look doesnt portray that GGGRRRR!

I went from the Standard GTI rear end to ED30 Rear end but in black the ED30 isn't as nice as the R32 with GTI zaust, you get a better impression of the lines on the R32 rear end compared to the ED30 IMO.

Does anyone know if this includes the painted lower part (obviously not painted) or is it just the textured plastic piece?

Ben

Hi Ben,
That price is just for the plastic part that is at the bottom of the bumper.
Bumper new is another £200 new.

They come up all the time on e bay, though I got really impatient. ususally about £120ish, though most of them will need resprays anyway due to damage or bits broken off.
At least I knew I was getting hte best I could afford with buying straight from VW.

Yeah im really impatient too
But if i can hang on long enough to find a decent one in black the cost of not getting it sprayed etc will help offset the expense of the lower bit :happy2:

Well thats what im trying to tell myself anyway :signLOL:

No, that link is to buy the lower half of the bumper. i.e.

No, that link is for the bottom half of the bumper i.e. included the painted section that takes the reflectors and the bottom unpainted exhaust trim section.
