Hi all
I have a standard Mk5 GTI with 30,000 on it.
It is a 56 plate and had two sevices so far.
What is the interval of the cam belt change and is it worth changing the water pump as well
Any answers?
Cheers

Cambelt change is every 4 years. I have a 56 Plate GTI and have just had mine replaced by the dealer. Price for cambelt change was £299 and price for water pump was £100. I argued that as you already have the front of the car removed access for the water pump would be easy. The dealer reduced the water pump cost to £50, so I paid £349 in total for a cambelt and water pump, not toooooooo bad considering both parts come with 24 month warranty. I also had a major service (£229) at the same time so the total bill was £578...gulp! Good to keep the service book upto date with dealer stamps, I tell myself..... :drinking:

My service book says every 120k miles. The dealer says 60k miles or 4 years. I'm getting my belt and water pump done on Monday at 5 years old and 80k miles :happy2:
