Post by: rdfcpete on September 18, 2010, 03:03:44 pm
Do we have any pictures of how these 501 W5W sidelights look in the day please?

Does anyone know the lumen rating for these also?

Thanks.

It was your wanted thread that made me think of these actually Steve  :happy2:
I've just fitted some £12 eBay LED non errors ones and they're okay, but nowhere near what I wanted really. I don't think there are any sidelight bulbs that will achieve the look I want, just DRL bulbs which GTI's have no accommodation for.

Not to worry...

I've even got some tasty Fog light bulbs for that, but tried it and my central electric module something doesn't support that, I'd have to upgrade it which is about £400+ fitted  :chicken:

My MTEC 501's didnt pass an MOT though.

The garage qouted "Wrong colour side light bulbs". I presume on the grounds that the bulbs physically look blue.

They are also not correctly marked with the all important "E".

Is anyone aware if the philips Blue vision are legal?

Just took 2, can't really see them. They're not meant to be bright in the day. It's the light in between the indicator & the line of LEDs.

Mine were definitely not E marked. I checked when I fitted them. The box they come in is in Japanese.

Are the Philips E marked?

I got the up-rated ones to match the Osram nightbreakers the other week. They have a blue look to the glass but are white when on & fully road legal in the EU.
