If the 36k miles is genuine then it seems a good deal as the low milers seem to go for decent money. I wouldnt keep it (very long) as im wanting a mk4 R32. If anybody has any detective skills and finds anything bad then let me know.

It's running on empty...
-
wow! thanks for that!
-
wow! thanks for that!
Haha, I saw that and nearly commented the same!

I might get slated here, but I personally think evo's are real chavvy
VW Golf = Iconic. :star:
-
its entirely up to you joe but id rather not drive that.
then again, you might not want to drive what i was talking about earlier. Entirely your call mate
-
Service every 4 thousand miles :scared:!!!.
-
I know image is a contentious issue, but for me that car sends out all the wrong signals. If that's not important to you (I'm a bit shallow) then I'm sure it's a great steer.
However, it sounds like you're looking at it from more of a financial perspective, so I'm sure someone could give you a more informed opinion on that gamble.
-
Im not wanting to keep it! :signLOL: i couldnt agree more carlo!! its an absolute chav mobile!! but id only be driving it whilst it was for sale!!
-
I wouldnt do it, I think you have much better luck selling a car you know a lot about rather than something you have swapped it for!
-
How about noooooo you crazy dutch B******D sorry but had to be done!
I would never! your cars stunning compared to that hunk a crap!
-
Haha I'm no chav but I'd be all over that! I think that imprezza's have the chav image and round where I live an evo is a rare sight and rarely molested visibly keeping the chav image to a minimum, where as the badly modded imprezza I see everyday!
-
Purely because of the "I've had it 4 weeks mate" and hearing the phone go down conversations when trying to sell it... no.
-
If it is worth ore than yours and thats whats tempting you, you've surely got to be asking why the guy would do it in the first place.
Some people are genuine and may just want a no hassle change then on the other hand, hes just had it serviced (good selling point) but hes been advised he needs new brakes, gearbox, clutch etc in the next few thousand miles :scared:

have you found a for sale add for it??
-
have you found a for sale add for it??
He's probably just thinking of reasons the guy might want rid of it I reckon.
My car is getting services today and they've given me a list of faults that adds up (from VW) to nearly £1k I was almost tempted to sell it on myself with a big "it's got full VWSH" smile
-
just spoke to the guy again, its next service is at 39.5k an is oil and filter change.
they sell for 12k-14k on autotrader?!
-
Joe,
I would not be entertainging this one, I thought the whole point of selling the car was to release some capital to get a house. Swapping the motor is not going to do this for you. I'd be wary for these straight swap deals too - using a car as finance against another car can go sour.
Just my two pence worth :happy2:

Yeah, just got to think about what you might then actually be trying to sell on. At least you know the history of your car and know it is not a lemon.
-

That's if you CAN sell it straight on. Who knows how long this guy's been trying to sell it. When I sold my Impreza, I had to go down from £12k to £8.5k to sell it as there just wasn't any interest.
Don't forget what's on autotrader is not what the cars are selling for... just what the owner wants it to sell for
-
stay away joe, if it sounds too good to be true.....

why not just buy my .:R32 :innocent:

Yeah it was just as an example. Id stay clear. Like others have said you know the history of your car and no there will be no lash backs when you do sell it.
-
why not just buy my .:R32 :innocent:
thier is a good idea V/c
-
why not just buy my .:R32 :innocent:
i was going to PM you today asking how you were and here you are outa the blue!
Unless ive missed something and youve been back for a while??
-
id do it if its worth the same. evo's dont have that chav image like the impreza, and they are awesome to drive. the mk5 chassis feels numb in comparison. but they are totally different cars
-
garth is spot on.i would also have thought the evo would be much harder to sell on ,much more expensive to run than a golf
-
the Evo is a specialist car designed to be the best 4 door point to point car your money can buy.
the golf is an all rounder, it does everything well. but nmothing excellent.
totally different cars to be fair.
-
its entirely up to you joe but id rather not drive that.

i would :signLOL: i like evos, think its a car you would love for a month or so and then get bored, but if you plan on gettin a 32, may as well have that for a bit.
-
The thing is Joe, would YOU struggle to sell your GTI with a K04 transplant engine? if you think it would be harder to do this than sell on the EVO, then it isn't a bad deal.

Now been offered this + cash monies my way!
shame its not blue!! :sad1:
-
looks a clean r32 but if you a set on having the blue one i would wait until one came along...have a look on the r32 web site as they come up for sale on thier
-
Nice, but the MK4 R32 is really distinctive in blue. I've seen a few black ones recently and had to double-take to make sure they were actually R32s.
Still, a more preferable swap to the Evo deal IMO.
What colour are the wheels btw?
-
The black r32 not from the bradford area is it?
-
The wheels are 'grey'!?

not sure yet? why?
-
The wheels are 'grey'!?
They look like a grey-blue colour on my screen, especially in the first image.
Looks very like a car I've seen knocking around Huddersfield.
-
What colour are the wheels btw?
Obviously painted by the same person who did Saint Steve's blue wheels!!!
-
at least the wheels are blue joe!! :signLOL:
-

:angry015: :P
-
R32
God I miss that noise. Would love the S3 for work and the R32 for weekends
-
The Blue is too common for me, I'd go for the black one if he's willing to take yours!
-

What he say. :happy2:
The blue screams R32 where the blacks, or grey in my case, just whispers Golf and you have to remember they are the fastest cars on the planet.
-
Just save your dosh Joe and Get the Mk4 R.
You'll have problems trying to sell on that car imo.
-

He has Taste then Mark :innocent:
-
car looks ok, wheel colour looks odd !!
-
service every 4500 miles on that evo Joe and granted they are awesome but god do they drink fuel and as for the golf have you been in one after having 350bhp :ashamed: they are sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo slow
-
car looks ok, wheel colour looks odd !!
Thank f*ck for that - I thought it was just my eyes (not good news for a Graphic Designer)

Joe, weve had at least two MK4 R32 threads that I can remember, and we took the pi$$ the last time you numpt!! :rolleye:
Plus if you are indeed buying a house why would you buy a car thats more expensive to run? Whatever cash that does come your way will go on road tax and fuel. Plus don't forget that car is older that the one you are selling!
-
If you want to save some money, you should look at one of the Ford KAs that Nousey was selling. Small, cheap to run, cheap to insure. Save bundles of cash.
Plus it'll suit your whiney-girl image!
-
http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/2068080.htm
cheap to run/insure and not THAT slow.
-
Joe.... to save money you need to sell the GTi and make heads turn in this Stunning example................
http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201037367961114/sort/priceasc/usedcars/make/perodua/page/1/postcode/so185gq/radius/1501/quicksearch/true?logcode=p
It Even has a MK5 reg plate  so you wont forget your old steed..................
Seriously though, as others have said, Doing something like this will get you from A to B and get yourself a decent deposit for some bricks and mortar.
-
£395 for that  get youself a m2 gti 16v and just run that about and stick the cash int savings for your house
-
I was in a similar position when I was buying my first house. I had an S3 at the time and had to sell up for some extra cash. In the end I bought an Impreza WRX as it was half teh price of my S3 and only 6 months older. It was a big mistake and it end up costing me more in the long run.
As others have said, sell your car and buy something really cheap to get you about in. Who knows in 6 months, you may get a better job or a payrise and buy something nice again (that's what happened to me!).
That's IF you really are looking for a deposit. It almost looks as though you're just bored of the GTI and want something else. I know it's hard to take a step down in cars, but it is the right choice if you want a decent house. I went from a BMW 330cd convertible last year to my GTI and it was a pretty big step down, but again I got a promotion and bought another BMW as well. If I hadn't downgraded, I would have run up big debts and not been able to afford the new car when I did get it.
:drinking:
