Hi, I found this forum while looking for 18" Monza alloy repairers or cheap new oem items.
I bought an 08 Mk5 GTI in March and have been meaning to get two curbed wheels fixed since then. Most companies only offer to paint the wheels which loses the lovely shiney machined metal finish. Any advice would be appreciated!

Where abouts are you? There is a good wheel place in the Midlands.

Thanks! I am in Bangor, Northern Ireland.
Been looking on ebay and there are 4 x 18" brand new wheels for £325.00 which isn't much more than the cost of two re-furbs. I am keen to keep the wee dude original if possible, with the exception of an ecu re-map at some stage.

Before you consider buying a set of replicas you should have a look at the ones on your car first. If they say BBS on the back then really you should be getting them re-furbished. The build quality of the BBS is totally different to the reps mate. The BBS use hollow-spoke technology (or something like that).
You should be able to get em refurb'd way cheaper than that. :happy2:

Thanks for the advice Monte. There is a place in Milton Keynes, ( www.pristinealloywheels.co.uk ) that will properley re-machine them for £56.00 plus vat if I send them w/o tyres on. Takes 3-4 days. It may be the company you mentioned.
On a positive note I got the GTI booked in for his 30,000 mile service and the cost is just £130  The air-con is not very cold so they are going to check it under warranty.

Cheers Greeners. I like the paint job on your Gti. Is that a wrap film? Have you done anything with the engine?
I've been looking at a re-map for my 08 Gti and the Revo seems popular. I just bought a 130i bmw but there's very little tuning can be done to non-turbo's.
