Hi,
For those in the know, this may sound like a silly question but I will be changing my car in a year(company) and want to make sure that I will be able to use the RNS after that in the new golf. I dont mind an additional adapter cable and so on but I dont want to take the plunge, buy the RNS, then have to buy a new sat nav system in a years time.
Thanks for your time.

I think SteveP has the rns510 fitted to his MK6 as a straight swap.
-
Yes it will fit, i have one in my Scirocco :happy2:, the C version is probably the best one to fit to the MK6 too as its the version that would have most likely have been fitted to it from new

to my knowledge is the version c with led made for the mk 6 generation as it supports the new BAP protocol :happy2:

2011 MY Mk6 Golf's come with the Version C LED screen RNS-510.
Earlier Mk6's came with either B's and non LED version C units.
Mine was factory fitted with a version B but I have upgraded this to an LED version C unit.

do you mean whats the difference ?, if so i will answer it lol, basically it has a LCD screen and a Star button on the top left, the internals will be newer but it still works like a A and B unit (with firmware updates) , the C unit will be supported longer (as its newer) with firmware updates etc

This is all great information people. My next question is regards to price on the rns 510 c LED. What kind of figures are people quoting for the item and installation. I have seen the installation procedure and I would feel more than comfortable doing this. The only thing that I dont want to do is the VAGCOM thing. Also is dvd whilst moving now a software mod rather than a module ?
