Just wish it was April already and I would go for this without a second thought. Just the spec I want and everything I would do (spoiler, black wheels, the lot)..
I know some of you lot don't like them (Mat :signLOL:), but come on!!!
-
:happy2:  that is bloody awful
Looks great inside  but could not look out of window of my house at that ugly car
-
I actually like that quite a bit :happy2: :happy2:
-
That is awesome, looks a little like mine but better... I have painted my wheels black, have the cf spoiler and black front grills, I have the stripes too
Get it :driver:
-
Yea i quite like that

anyone think pic 5 of the brakes look a bit weird?
its like there is only half a caliper??
-
How much? Not much difference in performance to an S3 for a lot more money, also smaller inside and more expensive to own. No thanks

X2
S3 all day long. As someone said before - ugly!

Eh??? Firstly a 135i will leave an S3 mate. They are a fair amount quicker.. Secondly that has a lot of options (xenons, those seats aint cheap, spoiler, and whatever spec it has inside the car on top). How much is a high spec S3 again? http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201035367299389/sort/priceasc/usedcars/price-from/30000/model/s3/make/audi/page/1/quicksearch/true/postcode/ln11au/radius/1501?logcode=p  And this one doesn't even have the buckets!!!
Running costs are quite good too. Decent economy (especially for a 3.0), insurance is the same (checked), not sure about servicing though..
-
I'd still have the S3 :P
Love the TTRS style rims they are now putting on the S3, really suit it imo.
Although I do like that BMW, if I ever got one though it would have to be a 3 series.
-
^^^^ yea they are feckin quick, the race logic says a standard one hits 60 in under under 5 seconds!
Oil cooler, intercooler, full zorst and air box will see about 400bhp........ Buybuy s3 !
I'd rather have the 335i saloon myself though, I've got to say the e90 saloon is IMO the nicest compact saloon ever made !
-
i love it, looks the nuts, and allegedly is faster than an M3 when pitted against each other

....But a lot more style than a S3, imo.
But both S3 and 135 M are both good cars - It just depends what you want as they offer quite different accommodation.

i agree. Have seen vids on the tube of these leaving M3s with absolutely no issues http://www.zeperfs.com/en/duel2493-1718.htm (http://www.zeperfs.com/en/duel2493-1718.htm) check them out, both standard, you can compare them with modded S3 Vs Momdded 135i goes to the S3 though http://www.zeperfs.com/en/duel2817-3486.htm (http://www.zeperfs.com/en/duel2817-3486.htm)

The one I see round here must be badged up as a 135i and not actually be one as there's a gnats pube in it between us. If it's wet I go ahead at every speed. Nice bloke though, younger than me I think so may just be a rubbish driver.
-
there are some vids on youtube with tuned *35i cars vs stage 2 plus k04's and its really close but I think the beemer at 440hp pipped the k04 car.
-
There's a M version out soon for a few grand more. Should be around 350PS standard.
-
Looks like a fat bird has broke it in the middle, and then it has been shored up with a girder. Too saggy in the middle, ruins the whole look.
Nice seats though, but S3 every time, and what is it with White cars and black wheels. Make it look like a unwashed taxi!

....They say that beauty is in the eye of the beholder. For me, this BMW looks long and elegant, and importantly looks good from all angles.
Don't get me started on describing what I think the Rocco looks like! I've tried so hard to like its appearance. I haven't forgiven you yet for leaving behind the sheer elegance of your Cayman S.
-
^^^^^^^
This is turning out to be a marmite car. Personally I would take the S3 even though it might not be as fast. Or on the other hand, E92 all day long. I never liked the 1 series. I understand why they made it though, plus it's a million times better than the old 3 series compacts but for me BMWs need to be big!
Even if it beats an M3, I would never choose the 135i over it.

thats my point with the design of the its look broken :rolleye: and as for the black wheel :P mine is a bit of a taxi :rolleye:

I think it's awful. The wing mirrors are half the size of the car, the sagging waste line is terrible, and the headlights are pure ugly. Those buckets are nowhere near as nice as the VAG equivalents either. The rear is quite neat though.
If the next one takes it's styling cues from the new Z4 then it could be a winner.
-
Not a fan.
-
S3 any day of the week, they look sh*t and drive sh*t in the wet compared to an S3.
Historically expensive BMWs are a pain to shift so expect to lose £17.5k in the first year! :signLOL:
-

Ben, the car's at Sytner Harold Wood where I got my 3 series, I got 5 years free servicing (parts & labour). :happy2:

Neil, if were to go and see that I would probably go and do something stupid.. :signLOL: Didn't realsie that it was where your 335i was from though mate and 5 years free servicing.. :surprised:
-
I prefer the BMW TBH.
I would still go for the M3 as my top pic though
-
Ben go for it.... I payed the same for my new S3 and i could have that!! but insurance romford is only 20mins away i can go and have a look for you ben ha

Which is it's biggest problem. I would rather have an e46 M3 and supercharge it.
-
Bear in mind that is Golf R money! ETTO!
As you say RR, in the eye of the beholder. It's not for me, the Cayman was a truly beautiful car, however I could not get truly comfortable driving it for more than an hour. Driving pleasure is where it is at for me, and I fully enjoy the R, I Also enjoyed driving the Cayman for short distances. But the 1 series coupe does nothing for me.
But that is just my hardwired engineers (if it looks right - it usually is!) opinion, the lower door line looks just plain wrong, I am sure it will fly, go round corners on rails and be a fantastic car, but not for me.
If I could have got comfortable in the porker and not had both legs go numb after an hour, I would still have the car.
-
^^^^
A great shame about getting numb legs and it's all very well for me to sit here and pontificate (not deficate!).
May you long continue to enjoy your Rocco R :drinking:
-
I like that, a lot - The performance seats are the bollocks! And all this talk against an S3, c'mon guys give it a break - two different cars, and the 135 is a far nicer unit, and a better drive with RWD.......in my humble opinion. Unfortunately that money buys a nice 997 Carrera S, and that's in a different league, and where my money is going shortly!
-
I test drove the 135i before getting my cayman, found it nice but as i mentioned a few months ago a bit too comfy and not overly involving, coming from a bilstein'd and engine mounted ed30, it was like driving a fast sofa.
If i used the car for commuting then i would have probably gone for the bmw, but as a weekend toy the porker straight out of the box is so much more fun and capable than the bmw and even my highly modded ed30, which is what i wanted after throwing £ks on modding the golf, learnt my lesson :happy2:
-
Looks great that Ben, however with it being the single turbo engine as opposed to the older twin turbo unit, will it map aswell. IIRC you could have 420 + BHP with all the supporting mods out of the twin turbo which is plain daft in shoe with RWD! I want one
-
Yes mate, still trying to find out what the differences are with the single turbo unit compared to the twin with regards to tunability. I wouldn't go daft on one anyway and would be happy with just having software (famous last words :signLOL:) and 360bhp.
It's the DCT I want though and that only comes with the new unit.. :sad1: It is definately on the list though, especially after walking round a S3 at Newcastle Audi for 10 mins today and not having a single person even acknowlege me, let alone asked if I was being looked after. Then I went to VW (was treated 10000% times better there i'd like to say) and got a PCP quote on a Golf .:R with Nav, buckets and DSG to be given a quote back for.... Wait for it.............
£908 a month :signLOL: :signLOL: :signLOL: :signLOL: :signLOL:
It's looking good for my local BMW dealer I have to say..
-
BMW 1 series are a great drive, but seriously ugly cars. For that reason, even if they out drove a ferrari, I could NEVER own one!

Newcastle Audi have seriously bad service and always have. I sold my S3 to them.... and bought it back off them 3 months later
It used to get services there and every time it went in, they would break something... then dealing with their customer service to get it sorted again was painful. That was if, like you say, you could get someone to acknowledge you.
-
£908!! WTF!? :surprised: :surprised: :surprised:
Yeah the DCT is awesome, I drove a new M3 with it not too long ago and it was EPIC!! I have had a look at a few 135i but I am back and forth with what's going on with mine at the min so i can't commit to anything  :fighting:
