Title: Accelerate Services - Oxidized Merc C200
Post by: 08micsta on September 30, 2010, 02:02:24 pm
Hello guys

This was possibly one of the most rewarding details I have done.

The customer booked the car in for an Enhancement detail. Upon arrival I noticed how badly oxidized the paint on his car was and got to work.

What is oxidation?

Lets start, can you see how dull and sand-paper like the paint is?

(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2Facceleratedetailing%2FIyole%2FDSCF0460.jpg&hash=6c1fb7522e434b3a0d739dbfa601ff9a2c288cad)

Although not clear in the next picture you will notice how the right hand side is white and the left is dull and yellowish. This is a sign of oxidation as it discolours the top layer of the paint. With polishing you remove this layer and below as seen on the right is perfect white paint full of life.

So a few hours later and all the usuals we have the finished result:
