The decision is yours.

one wheel for £380 plus tyre cost. all in you are unlikely to have change from £2000. but not sure i'd buy replicas.
-
I don't think most would buy the replica's. Good used original shadow Monza's come up every now and then for around £800ish for a set.
-
I've never seen a replica monza which looks good. You can always see from a great distance they are fakes. Buy cheap, buy twice

If I can't get the money I need for the Red GTI I have for sale there will be a set up for sale soon that I have just had refurbed! :happy2:

I had brand new replicas exactly like these on my gti when I purchased it last year from a main dealer. They were awful, I only cover c500 miles a month and within 6 weeks they were chipped and the lacquer had also started to peel and flake off. The number of weights required to balance the wheels is ridiculous and can spoil the look. Personally I would pay the extra for the genuine article, or if you can wait, pick up some second hand ones and refurb if necessary. In the end I purchased some BBS VZ's from PW Motorsport for about £550 for a set. The quality is significantly better, plus the wheels are lighter and have stood the previous harsh winter much better than replicas. I guess it's all about what you are preapred to pay. Another option would be buy the replicas, but only with a view that they will last a couple of years. Then you can buy another nice new set with a different look in two years time!

Previous experience says dint trust eBay replicas and stick with the originals. I'm doing the same for about £300 for my diamond cut 18's
-
it's already been said as best as it can "buy cheap, buy twice". its your money.

Thanks for all the replies , £380 a wheel is a bit of a rip off IMHO (I know they are a bit more complex than your average wheel , being hollow and all) , its only a £450 option to spec them on a new car though! I dont fancy reps at all , although some of the reps ive seen cars on this site wearing look quite good.
-
the reason for £450 for the optional upgrade is that you are trading up a set of 17's which the factory will not have to put on your car. Basically £450 is the cost difference between the 17's and 18's, not how much the 18's cost. But i would agree, it is extorsion!

There is a big mark up on them. I knew someone in parts and the cost price was £220 a wheel

I'd still love them on my car , (the Mk6 version with the Black insert) , I might just buy them one at a time when I can afford them , then when Ive got 4 , get the tyres later.

Why not just buy a set of manky Monza 2s for a couple of hundred quid and get them re-furbed into Shadows? Much cheaper that way.

That could be a possibility also , but I live in the back of beyond so it will be quite a hike to get to someone that diamond cuts alloys. There will be nowt around here (we dont even have a cinema...lol)
