There are tonnes of tyre threads that have been started in the past few weeks, just click thru a couple of pages and you'll get a whole heap of info

I have heard a few people steer clear of the Toyo tyres. I bought 4 Vredstein Ultrac Sessants for £360 on e bay the other week, bargainous!

Michelin PS3. By far THE best tyre i have ever used. That's coming from someone who has had Goodyear F1, Vred Sessanta & Avon ZZ3.

I have 320+lb/ft going through the front wheels and the PS3 grip the same in the dry as any of the others i've used. In the wet they are leagues ahead.

you need to temper the advice on the web with what / how you will use the car for. I have just fitted conti sport 3's and they are (on just about all the magazine tests) the best in the wet and today I did 250 miles in monsoon conditions and they are trully awesome, they will not be good in the dry as say the michelin's or if you really want great dry traction go Toyo 888's I went sport 3's as it is Oct 1st and we have at least 6 months of serious wet ahead of us, if it was 1st March I would have made a different choice, plus I do 20k miles a year of work related driving, for ultimate driving like a nutter grip my other track focussed car has Pirelli Corsa's on it.

So ask yourself what do I really want from my tyres = ultimate wear, ultimate quiet, best wet handling, best dry handling, when will I use the car the most, how will I use it and when, this will point in the direction of which of the quality tyres you should go for, for me it is ultimate wet performance hence sport 3's if it was ultimate dry or ultimate ear I would have def gone Michelin.

BTW no such thing as the "best" all round tyre, they all lean one way or another - one more optimised dry, one better wet, one on wear, one on noise etc

HTH's

John

PS3s all the way.

I think Toyo can generate a fair bit of road noise...and then you have the softer compound and tyre wear to consider.

Camskills are always well price.

I've just paid £135 per tyre all in at Lepsons, they are refinishing a wheel at the moment so it made sense.

I used to swear by Toyo T1-R's, I had T1-S's on my Fiat Uno Turbo a few years back (don't laugh it was a great car at the time!) and the T1-R's were just as good.

With regards to wear, I never kept my cars long enough to notice, but this time interestingly I am asking the same question about the T1-R's and find they are not really rated on here.]

I had 2 x Falken FK452 tyres (225/40/18) fitted in July and to be fair they are decent enough (cost me £159 for 2 fitted!) but then the wet weather is only just starting, and I need to change my rear tyres now.

Will probably go with the PS3's on the front, and put the Falken's on the back, everyone seems to rave about them, so they are obviously decent tyres.
