My office at work is right next to the car park.
Just a few mins ago, heard a sudden deep rumble. Look up to see one of the bosses roll in with a brand new White Golf R.
That engine sounds, just....WOW!
Will try get a pic when she's not looking....

The driver is very impressed with it

....Why does that description sound so very sexy!?
There's something special about Mary a performance car driven by a female.
-
lol, Sorry mate.
I think she swings the other way
Certainly has good taste in cars though.
She had a Mk4 GTI before this one.
Now she has this white Golf R, with nice big black alloys.

....No problem - I'm highly experienced as a lesbian (if she's pretty).
Once upon a time I had very pretty half-Asian half-Japanese bisexual girlfriend, but that's off topic.

Think I prefer the GTI over the R :ashamed:
Quite a few roaming around Bradford city centre regularly on a night now.
-
quite liking the black actually.

It doesn't look like a sporty car does it just looks like a plain old golf, apologies to the owner and tell them to wash it

....He doesn't want a "sporty" looking car, he's like me and has a car to suit his lifestyle. It doesn't look like a plain old Golf in the flesh. And he's enjoying driving it so much that he hasn't found time to wash it. However, next time I see him I'll tell him your thoughts and I'm sure he'll want to sell it immediately

They look extremely 'stealth' in black:

I think a neighbour of mine works for a dealer (poss. in Bristol) and always gets to bring home nice motors. Past coupla months he's had a mk6 GTI, Toerag R50, Scirocco R, Golf R and an Eos 3.6 at various times!
-
There's a lad that lives near me who has a white one with 19" black alloys. It looks and sounds pretty special and it's standard. He's not into modifying!
I agree it looks much better in the flesh. The MK6 GTI looks great bit I'd have an R any day
-
I don't like the wheelbarrow handle exhausts on the GTI, so I'll take the R, please! (make mine Steel Grey with black 19's, ta)

Has she changed the exhaust? In essence same 4 pot donkey as the GTi etc
-
The R models do have a deeper sound somehow. You can tell when my neighbour has an R from the noise.
-
My Scirocco sound completely different to my old edition 30, so much more meatier
-
^^^^
Dunno about the Rocco R but the oem Golf R most definitely sounds deeper than any of the previous 4-pot Golfs when they're on oem xzorsts.
That's why I prefer my Milltek to the sounds of the APR and Blueflame - It sounds deeper, even if not so hardcore.
-
I agreed with RR, the R does sound deeper for sure. Would love to hear it with a miltek on
-
They do sound absolutely fantastic for a 4cyl turbo to be honest. I think it's a noticeable improvement over the GTI and ED30 factory sound. This illustrates it well:
-
Must get my ears syringed, my Roc R doesn't sound like that, but then is quicker!

Blimey that sounds ace :happy2:
-
A few of the scirroco, sorry not the best videos but there doesnt seem to be many for the Roco
-
i hate to say it, but i was out in one on friday, and while it sounded good, it was still the only let down on the car. Comparing it to a V6, which is what it is replacing, there really is no comparison. An R32 sounds awesome, the golf R sounds great. but then the golf r is quicker, lighter, cheaper to run, and tax, is better for the enviroment, and still sounds great...
-
This thread sounds familiar .........

@ rdfcpete:
Nice quality sound on that Golf R clip you posted :drinking:. YouTube soundclips are too often rather amateur..... Because they are amateur!
-
The exhaust on the mk6 does seem to change tone and volume after its done a few thousand miles, my GTI is far far louder and much deaper than it was when new or nearly new..

....I think that's true of all exhausts as they coke up and mature.
[goes off to find pic to post of hot babe snorting coke]
Another way to hear more xzorst music is to put the back seats down.
Perhaps VW were aware of how many folks love the .:R32 V6 sound and made more effort with its Golf R successor regarding exhaust sound. I certainly much prefer the styling of the Golf R to the Mk6 GTI.

Nice cars , Id have a CW one! They may be expensive , but I went on the Vw car configurator the other day and specced up my dream Mk6 GTI and it came to £31K :surprised:

The R's rearend just does not work for me. The front is too plain, too SE looking, and imo should have had a GTI type upper grill with a blue grill surround at least. The sides i do like the alloys but the side skirts look the same as the bluemotions.
-
i have to say i love the golf r, yeah it costs alot but golfs always do, a decent spec meg is 26 ish, its much faster than any golf before it and looks like a golf should, subtle and well built.

@ Snoopy:
That pic you posted shows SteveP's modded Mk6 GTI and I think his looks very good indeed though I'm not a fan of any of the Mk6 GTI fronts - Just my opinion/taste.
-
Still a lot of dough for a Golf... :sad1:

Big exhaust and R lights both mods i like myself but nothing radical. At the rear compared to the GTI (which now has leds standard just lighter colour than the R ones or steves) The R looks plain to me and too flat below the rear light side on especially without the reflectors in the bumper and without that creese in the bumper that to me make the GTI look wider. The R exhausts too me make the R look far more narrow and taller and the shiny plastic defuser is not to my taste.
The front of the GTI to me again makes it look wider due to the lines on the grill and the lower grill. As you may remember from about 2 years ago i really liked the R bumper than and still do, but i can see were the designers were now coming from using the one they did on the GTI it makes it look wider.
At least when the mk5 R32 first came out its front end stood out i think the R needs a blue grill surround or something to help it stand out more. I just feel its missing some stand out identity at the front.
Just my view on the looks.
Back on topic. The sound.
I often see and hear a Black golf R coming the other way from a set of lights on my commute home while im sitting in the traffic in the centre of town. It does sound quite nice for a 4pot.
