Planning to do my 1st trackday on the 15th October at the newly re-furbished Anglesey circuit, I'm green as grass when it comes to track days so looking for any sound advice please fellas :happy2:
-
First thing you need to know is the surface is really abrasive at Anglesey.
I'll think of more....
-
so its hard on tyres, what else does the abrasive surface effect?
-
Ok, first why Anglesey? It's a good circuit and relatively safe, but it is tight and technical. Bedford is an ideal starter, open and plenty of room to get offline and out of shape.
It's a tyre wrecker, so keep and eye on the n/s front overheating or wearing - rotate if necessary at lunch.
Take some basic tools, tyre pressure gauge, pump and some oil.
Put on a novice sticker
Listen at the briefing, don't be afraid to ask
Book instruction
Be aware of the car. If the tyres feel greasy, come in. If the brakes feel wooly, come in. If something's sounding or feeling wrong, come in.
Enjoy.

cheers mate :happy2: all top advice and if anything else comes to mind please post up
Only reason I'm going to Anglesey is a few friends are going already and have bullied me into it
I plan on taking it nice and steady
what should I do with the cold tyre pressures, drop them a bit?
-
Leave them as factory and if the n/s front starts getting high, equalise it with the others.
You'll enjoy it, especially if it is the Coastal layout. There's loads of guides on Google too, don't think about it too much though, just enjoy the day and remember slow in, fast out to keep safe.

First few laps take it nice and steady and get a feel for the car and the track and then slowly increase your speed until you feel safe enough in you and your car, but one thing I will say is enjoy mate it's such good fun on track :driver:

^^^^
Ditto as Mat says :happy2:
Best not to record any lap times until you feel much more confident. Even then it's not wise to chase lap times - Stay in your own comfort zone and enjoy it like a very spirited road drive.
