What exhausr system have you used/got?
-
iirc Top Cat has a Blueflame system on his car.
-
.
Mine is a Mk5 GTI, not Ed30, and has a R32 rear end but with a custom-built Milltek with ceramic coated quads and real carbon exhaust trim.
I've got pics if you want me to post any.

Neither... I'm cheating

I really like the R32 bumper but I really DON'T like the centre exit exhaust. I'm going to give the one one ebay a try to see what's the quality's like. If it's good, then bingo... if it's crap then it's going straight back!
-
Arrrr that's cool - cheaper long run on the exhaust system to!!
That is just the lower lip yes? have to have the 32 bumpers first?

The top half of the bumper is exactly the same for all mk5 models. That link I posted was for the bottom half of the bumper. i.e. the part with the reflectors in and the black plastic section that surrounds the exhaust.

....The correct terms as used by VW are 'R32 Rear Spoiler' (what you're calling 'bumper') and 'Exhaust Trim'. The rear spoiler (not to be confused with roof spoiler) has cut-outs which allow all configurations of exhaust pipe/tip: twin, central, quad.

Red, are you saying that you can purchase the lower R32 rear spoiler and then cut it to suit what ever type of exhaust system you wish to run, because it is marked out.
I have been toying with this idea and deciding if to go with a Gti - R32 tail pipe section or purchase the lower section to suit the Gti as mentioned in this thread.

....The oem R32 rear spoiler already has all the cut-outs for you. You just have to obtain the appropriate exhaust trim for the pipe configuration you want or have.
I posted a pic on this site once upon a time but it would take some finding!

Well,
This just turned up now:
(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2Fgarthfred%2FR32_rear%2FSL272545.jpg&hash=405050ea9ae74d6541cf96101ff020348e99d61f)
First impressions on quality are that it is sh1te and will most likely be going back!
The quallity of the material is pretty good and rivals OEM quality, however the mould is clearly crap and the finishing is very poor. It's all one piece too which means it's more difficult to spray. The exhaust cutout also looks an odd shape.
There are defects in the mould that will need a lot of filling to get perfect and the 2 ends are a completely different shape!
defect:

It's too much to try to bend to fit so I don't think it's ever going to work :sad1:
Once again, buy OEM or buy twice!

Thanks. M&S' finest :signLOL:
My wife bought them for me last Christmas and I love them :P

:( Shame, it looked like was a product worth considering.......but yes, the shape is out. Bend it, it will crack.....or it will start pulling away from std bumper :(

It shouldn't crack as it's plastic like the standard bumper, not fibreglass. It's pretty flexible, but too stiff to sit right. As you say, it will pull away from the bumper.
It would be worth considering as long as you have the time, tools and expertise to put it right. I can do it, I'm just wondering whether it's worth it. It's going to require heating to bend it to the correct shape, then the imperfections and defects all need filling and smoothing. The mounts for the reflectors need a bit of work as does the tow eye hole. Then it's going to need careful masking and spraying.
I'm weighing up whether it's better to do all this prep work or buy an R32 OEM rear and adapt it to fit the GTI exhuast... I'll mull it over this weekend
-
looks like the bumper they used to make the mould had parking sensors

....If you do decide to buy the oem R32 'Rear Spoiler' (aka Bumper), I think you can source an exhaust trim accommodating GTI twin pipes which will fit it. As I posted earlier (I think in this thread) the genuine oem R32 Rear Spoiler comes with cut-outs for all exhaust configurations.
-

....No.
It doesn't protrude beyond the overall body line. Some other oem cars have fixed non-protruding tow eyes.
My front one is removed for road use as it does protrude.
-
How much is the Genuine R32 rear bumper from a dealer? I quite like the idea of having this done in combination with a centre exit Milltek exhaust , as its a good looking mod that could be Factory equipment.

Any idea where to get this part? I've been on the look out for a while

I doubt it as the parking sensors should be fitted in teh upper half of the bumper, not the detachable section
