Am I alone when I say Im not impressed by some of there prodcuts?
Had a £400 system on a previous car, and it was worst thing I ever did. Sound was great, but that was it....
Joins - poor, blowing and blowing. Fit and alignment on a rear twin was not good. The end result, had to be re-cut and sealed to get it all fitting correctly and joins tacked to stop seperatation.
DId I just get a bad one?
Yes, was fitted by Miltek 7-12 times to be exact.
-
a few people dont like em so dont worry :signLOL: i think a few had the same probs ie poor welds
-
I loved it when it worked...........WHEN!!!!
So, who do ppl recomend?
-
Blueflame for me dont care what people think of em they are made by a couple of guys who work on the cars and are spot on products mine just past it mot with no problems at all with the high flow cat  and god does it sound good

Good luck because you'll need it!

Quite a few Milltek fans on here, and to be fair, I think they have tried to raise their game of late.
However a poor reputation is a hard one to lose, and there are lots of reports of poor quality Milltek's on the various forums.
My own experience was a 360 degree cracked weld on a mid pipe, had it welded properly by a friend and all was good for the next 3 years till I sold the car.

3 weeks waiting for one then they say another 3 weeks on top of that, what an absolute joke, ended up with a pipeworx decat in the end

Milltek wins my vote. Excell in Aftersales which cannot be questioned.Even as stated early build quality issues.
Id still go to them regardless.
-
Alot of ST fordowners had issues with milteks, the downpipes would crack and the flexi joints would fall apart , its one of the reasons i wont upgrade the exhaust, i hate it when things go wrong, it spoils the car for me
-
Mine first Miltek ws £390. Full system. Was on a sh*tron Saxo VTS. (Was fun when younger)
Joints went, OK for a month then blowing like a pron star.
Weight - kept braking links and also cracked the downpipe/manifold twice.
But wehen I worked, as I said Loved it.
And hats off to them, they always sent replacement clamps/parts within 48 hours!!!! Aftercare good, but all in all would have beeb cheaper form them to to custome re-make it by hand. lol
-
Them sending new parts is good, BUT it means more trips to a garage to get them re fitted etc etc, not for me im afraid

Ohhh totally agree. Once a month in shop for exhaust MOT. Did beome a real arse :rolleye:
Have to say - I like std

I had mine made by BTB exhausts, expensive but well worth it!
I found the limit of the "straight through" (baffled) Milltek backbox when it blew the sides out..... :scared:
Took them a week to make the system but its a work of art! and really light too... Just to re assure you when i dropped mine off they had a 70s F1 car (about £5 million worth) then when i picked mine up they had the first aston martin to of ever won lemans outright in for a restoration exhaust... approx £10 million worth iirc
-
I bet, they used on some Rally specs to I believe.
BTB, imagine you piad £800-900ish?
-
I hear Pipewerx are very good?
I am led to believe the guys who run it used to work for Blueflame but I might be wrong.
But if you like standard, Pipewerx do a lovely downpipe and high flow cat that fits onto the standard system that apparently sounds lush.
Aparoon the guy I bought my car off had one and thoroughly recommended it.

I love milltek exhausts, I spoke to the director and he said they had some qualitey problems in the past with parts that were outsourced, but they have ironed that out now and are big on qualitey. If a company have found a problem and do everything to sort it , then fair play to them.
-
Briefly met him myself - didn't know they use to out source. 10/10 customer care.
I had bought my exhaust 5 to 6 years ago. so prrob have got better.

They didn't outsource the welding.

Judging by the state of the inside of my tips they don't use non-ferrous stainless either. :sad1:

The owner of pipewerx is Ian Birch, the founder of Dubsport. Nice guy with top notch exhausts. :happy2:

Ian has sold it on to Jeff now, still the same quality and standards tho!
-
I just assumed that Milltech were excellent quality since everyone on here seemed to rave about them. It just goes to show you have to research products before you buy them, not just be a sheep and get what everyone else has!
:drinking:
-
Are milltek exhausts guaranteed for life?
I have a catalogue but it doesn't really say.
J
-
^^ yes they are , if you were the Purchaser :happy2:
-
Yes exhausts are but cat and downpipe not.
-
^^ yes they are , if you were the Purchaser :happy2:
The only hassle would be having to get it sorted every year then?
What is the reliability of the downpipe and cat?
-
Guantee is good, they do try and sort any problems. When the Miltek work they are good, loved the sound! Quiet when you want to plod about deep when you high revs.
Just the joints go, and as said it blows more than a porn star. If they could re-design/develop the joints/fixings I'd buy one. But need to be convinced first.
-

wasnt there a clause where you need to have the whole system too ?
-
No, credit where it's due!! Customer service is good!! I had mine refitted dozen times by other people, yet the still honoured the gurantee.
Think you do need to be the registered purchaser and on the original car (They took my full details and car details) so long as the pipe has NOT been modded/cut. They awsome after care.
