Im looking to get some H&R springs close gap between wheel arches on mk5 gti, wondering what you guys thought of them, does it improve the handling? still comfortable ride? did you go for 20 or 30mm drop? advise be great :drinking:
-
I had a set, 30mm, and quite liked the drop, the handling was not very different at all, though I did take them off after 6 months in favour of some coilovers, which are much much better, though more expensive, see my build thread to see pics of the drop, it was not noticable at first, but after a couple of weeks they sat quite nicely.

I had them on mine together with some Koni FSD's - I thought they were great, dropped it just right, was running 19's and like I say swapped the shocks to so hard to comment on the standard ride but I wouldnt have thought it would be bad.
Good brand, good quality products.

Well there are a few on here, me included that have the H&R's and I can't recommend them enough. They are great, and they work great round the track with the standard shocks. Handling is improved no end and the springs are progressive so the more you push them the stiffer they get. I have them on now with 19's and the ride is great :happy2: and they totally transform the look of the car.
I love em

Ive used a H&R cup kit on my Lupo GTI and loved it!
Good quality products, never had any issues with them over 3 years I had them. Go for it!

I wouldn't, I paid £100 for mine off a forum member here, you can always get a good set second hand with only a couple thousand miles on them.
I had mine fitted at Midland VW in Norton Kanes, but fitting, including balancing was £150.

I will keep look out for second hand set springs mate, Midland vw i know well not far from mine, may take it there when i do get my hands on some. :drinking:

I got mine brand new on German ebay (ebay.de) for £130 delivered. :happy2: Although the guy's I got them from are not listing them at the moment.
Here is someone who is selling em, bit more expensive though... £165 delivered

I too paid about £150 for fitting.

Also I am not too sure, but I think the Eibach springs are supposed to be the same as the H&R's......but alot cheaper. £100 delivered, new
German Engineering :happy2:
TuV certified like the H&R's
-
Thanks for link mate i will take a look at them!!!! Is there any difference between Eibach & H&R springs except the price????
-
I am not too sure mate??? I know that side by side a golf on 30mm H&R's looks the same as a golf on 30mm Eibachs. As for the same performance, I don't know. :ashamed:

The guys on r32oc slate the Eibach
H&R all the way blah blah
Apparently the Eibach's dont sit right on the mk5's.............so they all go H&R
However on other cars Eibach are rated as V.V.V good.
