Hi all, I finally got around to fitting my highline cluster this morning, all went ok.
But now iv taken it for a drive the speedo doesnt work!
Anything iv missed? or is the cluster damaged?

Have you checked the coding under controller 17? copy and paste your long coding on vcds
-
New cluster was set for kph and its changed to miles so im guessing the codings correct.
Yes im sure the coding matched the original, but ill check it again.
If its ok any other ideas?
Thanks
Lee.

Do an output test to make sure the needle is working

Morning,
Iv been out and done the output tests, speedo needle dead as a dodo! I checked soft code and it matches my original cluster.
Now iv taken the cluster apart and cant see anything obvious loose or disconnected.
Any ideas?? (apart from launching it in the nearest skip! :happy2:)

Strip it down and check for any suspicious burn marks or smells on the circuit board...I had one on my fuel gauge and the copper strip for the gauge had melted probably to do with what ever it came from had an accident and damaged the board??
Either solder it yourself or have a pro fix it for you.

Cheers Darren,
Iv taken it apart fully this morning and i can't make out any burn or scorch marks anywhere.
Looks like the search goes on! Took me ages to find a diesel highline in mph.
Cheers

Anyone know of any specialists that might be able to repair it?
Or anyone that might have or know anyone with one?
Cheers,
Lee.

There is this one all you need to do is take the immobilizer out of the back of yours and transfer it into the new one this way you will not have to do the swap again?

Trust you Darren to throw a spanner in the works!!
What happened to all this 870/ 970/ 871/ 971/ 872/ 972 business?
So the 'vintage' of the cluster makes no difference because you can transfer your original immob over to any age of cluster? Just out of interest do the eos, golf plus and tiguan clusters work? I might be able to get an eos one with the white display but had discounted it because obviously it was too new.
If so where is the immob in the cluster? and even if i swap the immob over to the new cluster, in my limited knowledge :stupid: i thought you couldnt alter the mileage in the clusters made after late 2005/2006?
Thanks again Darren, sorry for all the questions! If i could do this i could probably find an later cluster cheaper on ebayde, the one iv got already cost me £150.

Take the front off the cluster so your left with the dials there is 2 screws on the back of the cluster take these out and that will release the dial block...in the casing you will be left with the epprom for the immob and data storage swap this over with the new one...
I have tried this with a mid line and highline and although the highline part didn't work(different wiring) it did start the car so the immob data is there.
Cos your going from highline to highline it will be fine shouldn't matter what year the cluster is cos all the dials will be the same its just the epprom on the board your changing
The touran cluster is a different shape and the eos i wouldn't like to say but would be a good experiment, it should work in essence.

Cheers mate,
Easy enough then!
I know the touran cluster is different for sure but i thought the eos and the tiguan were the same shape.
If he doesnt want silly money for it ill give it a go and let you know how i get on.
