Delicious wheels - stretch is turd.
I'd love some old skool gold centred ones..
-
that looks great! ;)
-
I love the wheels, but I don't like how he's done them in black but kept the bolts silver. And the tyre stretch is just plain stupid!
But they are undoubtedly one of the finest wheels ever made, and I think will remain so until the end of time!
-
WOW!!! That is stunning
-
looks like a rollerskate with that detail :chicken:
no like, but respect
-
Not for me either
Has he changed the rear lights back to the pink ones?
-
Not for me.
Can i ask, what is the point of the tyres that are not wide enough for the wheels? Surely it is dangerous, and puts the sidewall/bead under a lot of stress?
:ashamed:
-
Might have to knock up an anti-stretch pic now too....
-
it is a bit too slammed for me to be honest. but the alloys are lush

Its fashion and trend, most young people like to push the boundaries in most area's of life. sometimes dangerous things catch on, if he spends his days just cruising and meeting up with his mates then its not going to kill him. but if he drives round like a looney tune with the tyres like that then. I think you either love it, or you hate it. It has got the real 'euro' look about it which im loving at the moment. I think it is a car for the younger generation like TC says :scared:
-
i like it and i would have it and i would do a car up like that too :happy2: maybe a mk5 r32 slammed to the ground on air ride just like the WFSU club :P love it

I can confirm I was just sick!
Massively hate them! The GTI is a hot hatch not some American Pimp Cadillac which these look like they'd go on! I also think its a tad too low!
-
thats what makes life fun  not being the same as everyone else so y not :happy2:
-
you say you love R's, but i got to say i'm not keen on the front bumper and like the gti front more
-
By no means am I against stretch, I think on certain cars it looks good..
BUT! I wouldn't want to drive a car hard with stretched tyres, its like driving a car hard knowing that your wheels are held on with half the amount of bolts required, yes it will work, but for how long!? And just how hard can you push?
I have anti-stretch tyres on mine now though!!

My "No bags" pic is a bit tongue in cheek - Air has its place on big luxury barges, slow n steady or pimp Yank rides.. but on a hot hatch/sports car etc. I just don't get it.
People are spending thousands of pounds just to be able to go up and down and in the process making the car handle like a cathedral - to me that's just so anti what this car was intended to be.
Furthermore, the only reason they do it is to be "scene" and basically say "look at me everyone, I've spent £xxxx's on air-ride", they don't get any other benefit out of it... but it's their car and their money, so crack on and enjoy it.
This has always gone on, I remember my Dad building stonking big motor'd bugs to the DKP Cal Look letter in the 80's, because that's all he was interested in - then everything exploded with the show ponies that arrived on a trailer and never got driven more than 15 yards. All running detailed 1200s and more shiney additions & mirrors than Liberace's bathroom. Everyone scratched their heads... what do you mean you don't drive it, you just built it to be looked at? Bug Jam turned from a drag race meet to a dressage overnight. I was just a kid, but it dyed into me what I feel now.
I love good looking cars, but sacrificing the enjoyment of being able to drive it purely for looks isn't my particular bag.
Stretch is another matter, if you're just cruising about slowly or rolling around shows then fill yer boots, it can actually look quite nice if not done to the extreme. Using them on the road 24/7 is a bit selfish though - I don't know how safe they are/aren't, but if you can't be 100% certain that it is safe, why put yourself and others at risk?

Well said.
I wonder how insurers view stretch? Do owners declare it? A potentially dangerous mod, using parts in a way not for which they were designed for!
-
Gets a  from me.. Unsafe or not, it's got awsome presence.. I wouldn't go that low or stretch my tyres in any way like that. But from the side profile just think it looks mint. Bit like ours from a distance JC..

Nor me. I really cant see the point in stretched tyres either, or more to the point, why people think they are so cool :rolleye:
