Title: Faulty electric lumbar support
Post by: MPS on October 17, 2010, 08:33:19 pm
Hi folks

I was adjusting my electric lumbar support earlier, the top and bottom switches when I heard a blood curdling clicking / mashing of gears noise from somewhere inside the seat and since then has stopped working. The other 2 buttons for lateral adjustment still work fine though. I assume something has gone  terribly wrong with the gearing as you can still hear the motor whirring if you press the button now, but nowt happens.

Anybody else had this issue?

VW 'reliability' strikes again!!  :sad1:  pfft!  :congrats: Well done Volkswagen!  :fighting:

My lumbar support has packed in too. Similar problem then the fuse blew. I tried replacing the fuse but it blows every time I touch the switch so I have just accepted in aint going to work again  :sad1:

I'm wondering if it's something to do with the motor being unable to stand the strain of a big heavy person sitting in whilst operating the lumbar adjustment thus eventually knackering it.
