Seeing these on an E30 M3 Evo, and regularly on Porsche 911's I think it would be a fantastic addition to the GTI! It would also complement the red in the seat fabric design, and the red brake calipers/grille strip!
Where can I get some from!!?
-
MG Metro tastic and NO
Instant ban moderators?
:signLOL:
-
I also have thought about these and that they would look good. i think Lupo GTI's came with red belts and Anniversary MK3 GTI Golfs?
-
....
Come on, Chris! THIS is the real reason you want red seat belts!

Im sold RR!
-
@ RR - haha! Whilst I do not find that particular girl very attractive, I can picture many of the ladies in the VAG Babes section in a similar situation!
But seriously, I think they would look great in the car! To anyone in the know-how...I assume that most seatbelts have a similar design? Could I not just buy some from Porsche? Or as Mark says, it might be easier to get a part number from a Lupo GTI.

i liked the Red trim on the Golf mk4 anniversaries. ed 30s have all black belts tho right? im sure i remember seeing toms and thinking that was a bit of a let down. i liked the red trim
-
^^ Oh, so the MK4 Anni had red belts did it???
-
Chris, I think the biggest problem you come up against isn't getting the belts, its the fitting.
i would assume the mechanism is pretty complicated and hard to disassemble, for obvious safety reasons. Obviously, id like to be proven wrong.
whenever i see springs in a mechanism, I tread carefully, if i havent already given up with it!

No, not red belts, but they had a red trim down both side. like the mats. Black mat but red trim. it looks great

Just you wait Jay, come the summer I'm going to be a dismantling machine!!!!!!!!!! ..............belts, clocks, doors, you name it! I'll probably end up with no car left though! It's just a little too cold at the moment to try anything! lol!
Ahh, just looked at some photos, and I see what you mean regarding the MK4 belts! They look nice!

^^ Nice one!! :happy2:

Be careful we wanted them for the sales cars at work, it will void your warranty and insurance,
-
:surprised: :surprised: :surprised: :surprised: :surprised: :surprised:
Even if I got the official Porsche retrofit ones, and make them fit ok? Not that I am very technically minded, but I dont see how just replacing the black fabric in mine, with red fabric could cause a problem. But then again, I haven't fully investigated it yet, and I assume that you (Rob) know much more about it than I do!
-
I would have thought belts would be on the big list of don't touch TBH - I'd ask first.

i would steer clear of changing seat belts to be honest.
-
Ok, I tend to agree now...
Butttttttttttt, what about if i could paint mine?! That would be ok! :innocent: :innocent: :innocent:
-
use some vinyl instead! ;)
-
I do hope you are joking!
any form of product may attack the belt fibers and lead to them not doing there job in an accident.
If you must , you could paint the buckles etc as a highlighting idea?
-
Chris , you need help m8...................... they do pills to help people in your state of mind :scared: :rolleye:

Mmmmmm yeah I was kind of half joking.
I guess my dream for red seatbelts has gone out of the window now :-(
Just want to say thanks to all those who posted above! Just shows the power of a forum because I would have probably just gone out and done it, and wouldn't have thought about telling the insurance company! Obviously now, its so clear as to why they should know and the implications that it could have!
:happy2:

yeah dont waste your money on this and the white lights for the dash - put it towards some proper mods which will have some real benefit to the car - coilovers mate
these cosmetic mods all seem a bit pointless to me, each to their own though

The coilovers, WALK, ARBS and mounts are all already budgeted for  Hence why I'm looking for some 'final touches' such as the belts and the lights. I've just seen from my fathers Porsche just how much difference the red seatbelts make to the cabin - hence my query. True, I could put the money to a quaife, but I think I'll explore that when I'm earning a bit more dollar   :jumpmove:
